They would have to pay me more than $5 to go see them.In case anyone’s interested, Hawkeye Athletics is advertising tickets for Fran ball as low as $5.
CLUTCH. (that's their 4 man BTW lol)
OR for Iowa State to adapt their OOC scheduling to improve their standing in the metric that is used. It's a relative easy fix for ISU if the metric is truly an issue. If that is the case, time to scrap the model and salt its ashes, as that is an absurd output,
I'm pretty sure we lost to Baylor in Waco the last game of the regular season. It was a terrible loss and a preview of what was coming.but had we stuck around that 2000-01 team would have been really special - they certainly wouldn't have run out of gas like they did at the end of that season (seroiusly - I was like "uh oh" when we lost to Texas near the end of the regular season).

They would be better off just offering them free at that point. In case anyone’s interested, Hawkeye Athletics is advertising tickets for Fran ball as low as $5.
Hate to be that guy - but I’m still giving the nod to the 2000 team. And for me, it’s pretty clear. Even spent the last couple days rewatching some home and road games from 2000 (goodness, YouTube is a special place!). That team was so, so, SO good. The rebounding and physical toughness was at an all-time elite level (yes, even above this years squad). And I think Fizer is our BEST ever player. Yes, the best Iowa State college player ever. Better than Jeff, better than any other. An All-American utterly unstoppable beastly force down low with the softest hands in the country, along with the ability to stretch the defense. He was THAT good folks. And Tinsley at his ceiling was also a true All-American, and he starting hitting this season the 2nd half of conference play and kept it going in the tourney. Mike Nurse was a stud. Lockdown defender, great athlete, great finisher, former point guard, and an elite shooter with unlimited range. Kantrail was a stud. We essentially started 3 point guards. Stevie Johnson at 6-4 had the physical strength of a defensive lineman, and had no trouble guarding - and rebounding against - much taller players. I think his muscles might have been cut from granite. This is the best ISU MBB team, I think I've ever seen. I've been watching ISU BB a long time. It's hard to not dream of the possibilities with this team.
This was the first game i felt they REALLY put 100% into the defensive effort. That showed, best D all year. The bigs are getting more integrated. But i do think it took a little out of them offensively, didnt play as well on that side; masked by how well they shot the 3.
You can almost feel this team evolving, growing.
Heck it's fine to be that guy, everyone has their own opinions.Hate to be that guy - but I’m still giving the nod to the 2000 team. And for me, it’s pretty clear. Having multiple 6-10 guys in Shirley and Rancik - along with a serviceable freshman Hawkins (that could guard quite well) coming off the bench made the group a legit 8 deep, like our current squad. The narrative was always how “undersized” they were but they were an incredible rebounding team, and physically dominant.
It’s absolutely certifiably insane (and complete bullsh*t) to see highlights from SportsCenter in February of 2000 when Iowa State was 21-3 and were only ranked #21. If our current squad gets to 21-3, we’ll be ranked #1. Big 12 had some other great teams in the league at that time and Iowa State was the toughest one.
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll get pushback but I haven’t seen anything to change my mind yet.
And with ALL of that said - I LOVE our current team and I truly believe we have all the pieces right now to win a national title.
Agree with all that, but...this team story has not been written yet. They should keep getting better, it's early January. Or they could collapse or have injuries. Nobody knows yet. The potential is there. Time will tell.Hate to be that guy - but I’m still giving the nod to the 2000 team. And for me, it’s pretty clear. Hilton has always been quiet during the winter term unless it's some particular landmark game, which this was not. The 2000/2001 celebration also wasn't advertised very well.
Yes. Several from the Pioneer logo. His shot seemed effortless compared to the other guys trying it. Caitlin Clark would be impressed.Someone reported yesterday that JT was draining threes during warm-ups![]()
It was amazing how long it took the AP voters to give some respect that year. It was the classic "Kansas is not winning the Big XII? The conference is down this year," mentality. It’s absolutely certifiably insane (and complete bullsh*t) to see highlights from SportsCenter in February of 2000 when Iowa State was 21-3 and were only ranked #21.
