I think I'd rather have 2500ish extra seats available to help ticket prices.
That doesn't help much if you end up with closer teams in Milwaukee with big fanbases from the big 10

Id probably say Wichita is better.

Easier to travel to for more of our fans, and likely to be more of a big12-friendly crowd in general where Milwaukee will be big 10 heavy.

It depends on how Kansas ends up. If they get selected to Wichita also, they’ll gobble up most of the tickets (I’m sure they have already purchased most of them). If they fall apart and get sent elsewhere, tickets will be easier to get and I think it would be a great location.

Kentucky not being able to play in Lexington and not getting next closest site (Raleigh who will get Duke and Alabama or Tennessee) really throws a wrench into locations this year.

Straight mileage wise. Ames to Milwaukee is 355 miles, Ames to Wichita is 438 miles.

That would be Illinois, Michigan, Purdue or Michigan State with a shot at a Top 4 seed? I assume Milwaukee would be closest for all of them. They all seem like pretenders to me, but I guess someone is going to win the Big 10, and if its one of those 4 they'll end up in Milwaukee

Illinois and MSU will most likely get 3 and 2 seeds respectively. The big ten is super easy this year and Illinois already won one of their harder games. Michigan also could be around that 4/5 line. Purdue won’t be able to do what they have without a monster in the paint like they have had

Michigan or MSU are more likely to go to Cleveland.

Illinois would be Milwaukee. Purdue is about 50-50.

I've been to basketball games in football stadiums. It sucks.
I went to a Final four at The Superdome. Definitely takes getting used to.

Although I’m really surprised it’s listed at Lucas Oil Stadium. Typically those regional finals are at NBA arenas.

The Palace at Auburn Hills
MSG
United Center
TD Garden
etc.

Just strange.

Lucas Oil Stadium

Maybe they are experimenting with a new model?

They have the seating as half of the stadium.

Pretty sure Lucas oil had had a few final fours in the past as well. It’s in a better location in Indy than the basketball arena in terms of hotels in my opinion. Also don’t know if it’s due to an NBA scheduling conflict or something.

I like Lucas oil but agree on NBA stadiums being prefered

Of course they have had final fours. Those are now held in Domes.

This is a regional final. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a regional final in a Half Dome or building. Maybe the Alamo Dome had a regional final before? I know they hang the big curtain for half seating.

Pacers are away. And that arena is close. Maybe 7 blocks?

Whatever. I hope we make it to Indy!

The first time the NCAA used the “center court” configuration for a non-basketball arena was the 2008 Final Four in San Antonio. They have used that configuration ever since to increase ticket sales.

The 2004 Final Four was also in San Antonio and they used half of the Alamo Dome.

The 2025 Midwest regional final in Indianapolis will be the first time a Regional Final will be held at a “dome” Using only half of the stadium.

It's part of the deal with Indianapolis. Regionals are always in Lucas Oil.

Also hosted Regionals in 09, 13, 14 and 21. Used the end set up in 13 and 14.

I’ve never seen it.
Interesting

Thanks for the info

Edit.

2021 was the Indy Covid Bubble.
