Well it takes like 7 hours to go from New Orleans just to get into the Gulf. We did a cruise once and saw the pilot boat come get the river captain at like 1130 and we left port at 4On ocean going boats. Parts of Brazil can get to Europe faster then boats leaving New Orleans.
Carter Lake- fun little spot if you need to get some online betting done in the Omaha area without going to Council BluffsAn Iowa city is west of the Missouri River.
This is my biggest problem with living in Minnesota.
I've grown to like the term "hot dish" because it makes for a great euphemism but Gray Duck... ugh.
It sounds dangerous to pull down your pants and squat in a cold parking lot.fwiw, the gray duck territory encroaches at least one layer of counties into North Iowa.
Also, in the winter, we like to take our cars out and "whip shitties" on ice covered parking lots. Have not heard that term outside of North Iowa and Southern Mn

And, if you are in Omaha, you have to drive through a part of Iowa to get to the airport which is in Nebraska. We stayed in said city last year when we went over for the NCAA tourney. It was so weird to keep going between states. Not like it really mattered, but it was just weird.
I legit learned this last week watching a Kentucky basketball game and seeing this bit on the state outline at three court at Rupp Arena. Had to google it and surprised I'd never heard of it before.A part of Kentucky is surrounded by Missouri and Tennessee. This “exclave” is also known as the “Kentucky Bend”. View attachment 141198

as a little kid growing up in Muscatine, the idea of Davenport being east, but up the Mississippi River messed with meI also like pointing out that the quad cities are where the Mississippi flows east/west. That’s surprising to people before they think about it.
Part of the reason is that the northeast side of the area in question (including all of Michigan) was supposed to be in the Central Time Zone but Henry Ford wanted his automobile headquarters on the same time zone as the banks in New York City.
The first public drinking fountains I used were mere tubes that pointed perfectly straight up (like a geyser without much force). As gravity took hold of the water stream it looked like bubbles. On this topic my wife from Wisconsin is convincing my kids that a water fountain is called a bubbler. They love her more than me and believe her.
In no world does the water bubble when it comes out of the spout.
ONLY 13.5 hours, IF traffic is light. Bahahahahaha!!!...Crescent City, CA to San Diego, CA: 848 miles
We lived west of Muscatine and came into town on IA Hwy 22 heading east. The street coming in (Cedar) made a couple very gradual bends southward but I never noticed that. So in my head the numbered streets went N-S.as a little kid growing up in Muscatine, the idea of Davenport being east, but up the Mississippi River messed with me
Ever been to Cedar Rapids? It's 45degrees rotated from sanity. That and the smell. They do have a Map Room tavern. We lived west of Muscatine and came into town on IA Hwy 22 heading east. They are designated East and West (East Hill, West Hill). When you actually look at the layout on a map those streets run almost exactly NE/SW.
It's one thing to be 45 degrees off and acknowledge it like CR does. It's another to just say, "That's East" when it's definitely Northeast.Ever been to Cedar Rapids? It's 45degrees rotated from sanity. That and the smell. They do have a Map Room tavern.
Before the border needed passports I went up the north shore, drove up to a unmarked pullover walked about a mile (?) and saw the tallest waterfall in Minnesota, it was really easy to get there from Canada.Yeah, the only time I have ever been to Canada was when I crossed the river (via the tunnel) to Windsor, Canada. We thought we would eat lunch there. It was New Year's day so I couldn't exchange any currency to feed a meter so we ended up just crossing back north into Detroit (via the bridge). So I have been to Canada for less than an hour - and I live in Minnesota.
A lot like Waterloo. It's one thing to be 45 degrees off and acknowledge it like CR does. It's another to just say, "That's East" when it's definitely Northeast.
