Chick-fil-A. I don't get it. Everyone raves about it. It's just chicken. Also, I can't stand their politics. I have declared a one-man boycott against them. They are also stupid. It's the only restaurant I know of that has a policy of closing on Sunday, and then is stupid enough to establish a store inside an NFL football stadium. Duh! They play on Sundays.
I ordered their chicken sandwich once. Not only was it very average, but I bit into an abscess on the 3rd bite. I’ll never go back.

I just find it weird. I doubt there’s another living soul that likes burgers that has tried all the options I posted and hated them all.
I dont have to try every smash burger ever made to know I prefer burgers of the Non-Smashed variety. I have eaten enough of them from a variety of styles of restaurants to know I do not prefer them.

If smash burger was the only option, sure I would eat it. If I was with other people that wanted to go where they only have smash burgers, I would eat them. But if I have the choice, I would not choose a place with smash burgers. I also would Prefer any smash burger, be actually made with non smashed burgers, as I believe any burger made with smash burger patties would be better with regular hand formed quality patties.

Again, its my preference, its my opinion, and its my choice. You like them, Great, I dont. Some people like rare steak, some like it burnt to a crisp, it is what it is, some like plain chips, some like sour cream and onion flavor. Are any of them wrong, no, its their opinion, and you arent going to change that because your opinion is different.

I dont hate them, I just dont care for them, the original post on the subject was about Culvers and Freddys, you have went on a tangent about all these other High priced burgers that yes are probably better, but that also doesnt mean they would not be better if they had regular patties instead of smashed versions. Which is what I have said, any place that makes smash burgers would make them better with non smashed burgers.

To date the best tasting burger I believe I have ever had was at the Owls Nest in Panora. It may have been a lucky one off again but the burger patty itself was probably the best tasting burger I can remember, and had nothing to do with any of the extra fixings that go on or with it, just the quality and cook of the burger itself. The burger flavor reminded me of when I was a kid and we used to get our own beef cattle butchered and processed and my mom would make hand formed burgers. Which makes me believe they get quality local sourced meat for their burgers, but dont know. Again, It may have just been a lucky chance, I have not had the chance to go back there to try another to see if it is how they always are. That being said its not exactly a fair comparison to a fast food burger from Culvers, Freddys or BBops etc.

In line with the other thread about discontinued foods you want back what are popular snacks/restaurants/drinks you hate.

I don’t like any plain chips. At all. I never buy them. Classic Lay’s or Ruffles or even corn chips. For dipping etc maybe but by themselves? Never.

I hate In-n-Out. Way overrated.

Diet Coke is awful.

Five Guys I will never eat again.

Red Vines are so bad
Diet Coke is vile.

Have you tried Ruffles with Philly cream cheese? It's exquisite.

Really the only dips I’ll eat plan chips with are the AE chip dips.
Top the tater, chive/onion, is by far the best dip out there, at least that I have found/tried. If you have never tried it you really should.

That being said, I am also a person that will use ketchup or BBQ sauce as dip for plain chips.

I actually prefer plain chips with some sort of dip, ketchup, bbq sauce etc. to most any flavor of chip.

Ok, I'll do it.
Busch Light is absolute garbage. I've drank a ton of it in my life but it's basically like if Mio had a beer flavor.
I'll never pass up a free one but it's not my go to.

I don’t have a dog in the smash burger fight.

But the passion of this post has got me FIRED UP. Kudos to you sir.

BKs Burgers are far superior to Culvers. But the other aspects Culvers is better.

You are right Culvers is better with freshness.

The problems I have with culvers.
1. Smashburgers SUCK. Talk about ruining a burger. Give me a nice thick juicy flame broiled burger, not a flat, overcooked, wafer thin, pancake of a smashed to hell, meat cracker. Gross.
2. Their need to oversalt everything. I dont want salt on everything. I dont want salt on cheese balls, onion rings etc.
3. Their claim that their cheese balls are Wisconsin style. Their cheese balls are nothing like true WI cheese curds, not even close. I remember going to old drive inns with the same frozen cheese balls decades ago. They are fine, for what they are, but they are not WI style curds in any form.
4. The way you have to order your burgers, I get it to a point, but sometimes I want to just order a signature burger, with unique sauce etc and not have to tell you every single thing I want on it etc.

Culvers is ok, but it is far from my go to, I pretty much choose anything else if there is other options. When I would rather have McDs vs Culvers that says something, because McDs is not good.

But in the DM area if there is a BBops near I choose that for burgers most of the time.
If for some reason you are in Storm Lake go to the Smokin Hereford I've had their curds multiple times never had a bad order.
