I'm not one to complain about a W, but the last couple of minutes raises a question. Should we have pressed for more of the game against a team with weak point guard play and dominant post play? I know that it's not BF's style, but in this case we probably could have coasted home a little easier.

Yet further proof that one of the greatest wins in Iowa State history just isn't good enough and some fans are going to question the coach's decisions no matter what happens.

How about you and the rest of your naysayers find another team to cheer for or something because obviously nothing anybody does at Iowa State is going to deserve your respect (and before you start criticizing me about "that isn't the case and I'm blowing your post out of proportion - go back and read it and then tell us how exactly we're supposed to interpret it).

Agreed. Anyone who questions BF is totally high. This guy is the best coach we have had since Harold Nichols...I wish he would take over as our Men's BB coach.

I would guess that we didn't press more often because the team only practices it as a "special situation" once a week (this was mentioned by Aus in her postgame interview). Since the press is not our forte, I would imagine that it would not have been very effective if we had used it more often in the game. It became effective because we jumped into it, they turned it over & we scored. They had difficulty maintaining composure, trying NOT to lose. We may have been able to do this a couple times early on, but they likely would have made adjustments for the rest of the game, IMHO.

This is absolutely unbelievable. Perhaps the greatest moment in recent ISU history and you want to **** all over it. Great. Please become a Hawkeye fan quickly.

Did you quote the wrong post for this? I think he was explaining to the complainer why we didn't press the whole game

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? :skeptical: I was responding to another poster's question about pressing MSU more often in the game. I was giving him my opinion based upon what I heard during post-game interviews with the players and coach. I honestly don't understand where you are coming from. If you have any doubts about my allegience, I suggest that you read all 150 of my previous posts - nowhere AND I REITERATE NOWHERE have I ever griped and moaned about an ISU win!!!! I have been a girls high school basketball coach for the last 10 years (+ 6 years of Jr High coaching experience). I can tell you that you don't try to do something all game long that you don't practice on a regular or daily basis - it generally doesn't work in your favor. THAT is why our press worked tonight - we did it at a time that it surprised them - it rattled them and we were clutch!! I suggest you not be soooo sensitive & stay away from personal attacks. The fact that you suggest that I become a Hawk is almost as heinous as telling me to go to h***. If you knew me personally, you would know that I have absolutely no love for EIU. BTW - I give all the credit in the world to our coach and Twister Sister leaders for this awesome win!!! I enjoyed every bit of it and have been watching game and interview video highlights on the Iowa State website - this is why I am still up at 1 a.m. Do you still have doubts about my allegience to/support of ISU?

Maybe you could try interpreting the question as it was written. It can't be stated any simpler than would it be a good idea to try to press a team that kills you in the post and doesn't have a solid point guard? Contrary to being a naysayer, I appreciate Bill's coaching to the point that I give him full credit for being capable of breaking down any game (W or L) in search of what he can do to give his team the best opportunity to win.

I've also been cheering for Iowa State long before they even had a women's BB team, so I don't think that there is much hope of me finding another team at this point.

Coach didn't get bashed in either one of the posts you two are jumping on. The two guys simply asked a question for discussion, not for complaining about the game. Relax, take it easy on your fellow Cyclone fans here. Save it for real complaining.

Amazing game. I can't wait to take my daughter to Hilton. I really enjoy the way BF approaches the game. He reminds me quite a bit of Bob Knight in his approach. He has a core philosiphy that he works with but he can adapt to his players in terms of tempo and style.
