The Iowa State burners on twitter are going to have a meltdown over this but this is good news in my book.
Best AD in the country, no brainer decision! Couldn't be happier with the coaches and administration we have in Ames.
Given his contract prior went through 2026 it definitely seems obvious that some kind of extension would happen given there's almost no way you can see him wanting to leave before CyTown is up and running.
It's not really even debatable. Some of his decisions could be questioned, I guess, but this is not a hard decision. At all.

If anyone is an actual fan of Iowa State athletics their reaction to this news should be joy and happiness. If it isnt, you are either an idiot or arent a fan of Iowa State athletics.
JP is the single most important figure in our athletic history, period. The anonymous burners may not like a thing or two about him or his decisions (I would love to buy beer at games, too) but I dont even want to try to think about what situation we might be in right now without him for the last two decades. Does he miss sometimes? Yes, but what AD doesnt? We are lucky to have JP. He’s at the top of the top tier of Division I athletic directors.
