Jayden Nunn. Spelling might be wrong but would love to hear more about that one. He was committed to ISU/Prohm and TJ kind of shuffled him to the side when he came in. He is obviously a BIGXII player, but assuming it was a fit issue. I'm guessing no one will say anything while he is actively playing but that is one I'm curious about also.
Nunn never received a call from TJ so your assumption on fit would be correct.

I was at that Texas game at Hilton that year. That was and still is the most spiteful crowd I have ever witnessed first hand. Such a fun day.
Nothing will ever beat the Steve Stipanovich 80's cap gun game. He shot himself in the leg over the summer with a hand gun. Every time he caught the ball cap guns would go off all over the place. I wish I had video!

Would they still be in Iowa City had they gone there? Feels like, yeah, they would be.
I think Foster would've been shown the door. His level of effort just isn't where it needs to be to play for any P5 school. Biliew would be there for as long as he wanted to be there though, no doubt. I kind of wonder if it was his decision to leave Ames this past offseason or of it was decided for him.

Nunn is an interesting case. I get TJ wanting to start over with his guys, and he did aside from Conditt, Jackson, and Walker, and he still re- recruited Hunter obviously. But Nunn never got the call, despite seemingly being the exact type of player TJ likes to have in his program. Nunn would've been especially nice to have on the team 2 years ago.

Prentiss Nixon would like a word with you.

Prohm had zero idea what he was doing, and the recruiting results were just a random number generator. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
He had to have sold some of his organs on the black market to get recruits like Wigginton and THT, right? Never understood how he was able to get those blue chip type guys.

That’s either hyperbole or bad money ball.

Obviously we’d buy several solid prospects over swinging big on one prospect

I think the harder question is on retaining our fringe stars. They’ll get big offers from wealthy programs willing to overpay. Or from programs that are willing to put all their chips on a single player.

Say to retain Milan, Lipsey, Jefferson, we need to use so much of our funds that we can’t fill other needs. Do we let one go?

There is certainty and continuity in retaining guys, but I think if trading were a possible, we’d probably do that on at least one

For example, paying someone at a go-to scorer price when thus far he is a 3 and D wing, but with limited defense and poor rebounding, is not money ball.

You can replace 11 points per game (and the space it provides) from a sharpshooter that’s a weak point on defense and rebounding at a modest price. With the savings, add a wing that gets you points with defense and rebounding.

But given the potential the returning player improves and becomes a go-to scorer, if he’s closer to a 3 and D price, you overpay to some degree to retain
I like what you're saying here and agree. Also hopefully what he said was hyperbole, because no way on earth would I stick with Watson over any of those guys except Storr who seems like a bad culture fit just about anywhere he's been.

Perhaps there are things we don't know. I do recall some of the especially vitriolic TJ haters proclaiming that "that's not how you coach" and that "ISU will never be able to recruit Michigan again". I wasn't particularly convinced then and I'm not at all convinced now.

Foster looked uninterested at the state tournament as a sophomore. It just never seemed like he loved basketball.
I think he liked the idea of playing basketball but yeah never loved it. I followed him on Instagram back when he was a senior in HS until he left Iowa State, and I remember he was doing a Q&A one time on his story before he showed up on campus. Someone asked if he would be a one and done and he responded that he only planned to be in school for a minimum two years before declaring for the NBA. That was the moment I knew it wouldn't pan out well.

The whole student section chanted "**** haluska" every time he touched the ball.
Deservedly so. Transferring to an instate rival is a ****** thing to do. Unless it's for a greater opportunity like Nate Heise going from UNI to Iowa State. Haluska was going to have the same opportunity for PT at ISU as he got at Iowa.

Radford advanced to the Big South semifinals yesterday. Xavier Foster DNP, but his season lives on. Will play 1- seed High Point today at 11 AM on ESPN+

Jelani Hamilton's season ended last night as Georgia State fell to Marshall. He at least went out with a bang -- 28 pts 6reb, 3/7 from 3pt.

Foster logs one final DNP for the season, as Radford falls to High Point.

7 former Cyclones still competing, including Eli King who helped North Dakota upset South Dakota State last night. 13 point, 7 boards 3/6 from 3pt. His teammate Treysen Eaglestaff went off for 51 points, 8/18 from 3pt. North Dakota gets 2- seed St Thomas tonight at 9:30, CBS Sports Network

Eli King was the best player on the court tonight for North Dakota, 15 pts 8 rebounds and never came off the floor. But St Thomas was too much for them, ending Eli's season. 6 former Cyclones to go. Next up is Jaden Walker and Texas A&M CC at 5 pm.

In all fairness to Haluska, the Cyclone squad he left in 2003 was a mess. I blame it on the Eustachy scandal and figured Haluska wanted to get away from all that.
