Because that is what teams that lost say. Its I only important if your team is still in play

They're saying it because that's literally what the committee head said in interview post-bracket reveal last year - despite the fact ISU ran through the Big 12 tournament and completely blew out Houston, we were penned into the final #2 seed - nothing we did in the Big 12 tournament last year mattered.

And when your team is in it, the conference tourney is f*cking awesome. More often than not, these games are more intense that early NCAA tourney games. It's really stupid to say they don't matter. Because clearly, all of the players play their nuts off in these games.

We’re gonna see if the committee stays true to their comments about league tournaments not having an effect on seeding. If they truly don’t matter then UK and Wisconsin and Maryland and A&M are on the 4 line. We would be a 3.

I see no way Wisconsin isn’t a 3. Root hard for Michigan to beat Maryland and maybe they’d stay a 4

Well the ksu loss was a quad 3 loss and the Penn state loss for Wisconsin is quad 2.

We caught Kansas State at a bad time, both in that they were playing well for the only time all year and we had Milan out, but they blew us out by 20. It's not like it was a close game.

That loss what more about us and less about them. We just totally looked out of it that day.

I do not understand why Chris and Chris say these conf tourneys don't matter. Lots of intense games and you can tell these guys want it bad. I get that the big tourney is most important but winning a tournament and getting hardware is still a great accomplishment.
They are pushing the media narrative, just like your fb season is a failure if you don't make the CFP.
I think the thing they are minimizing when they talk like that all the time, fans might start to believe them and tkt sales and NIL funds will start to dry up. How many times does a fan base need to be told it doesn't matter before they say screw it and just stay home or say let someone else pay the players.
I mean we can watch the NFL and not be asked to spend a dime.

I don’t think that’s accurate though. It’s pretty clear ISU played up from a 3 to a 2 last year. We didn’t jump as far as some wanted, so this year everyone wants to act like it doesn’t matter at all or that it will somehow be inconsistent if other teams play their way up. You need to look at tournaments as a chance to jump up a line, anything further than that is unrealistic.

The byu bothers me cause we shouldn’t lose at home. Byu is decent, but they aren’t a great team.
My hope for every yr is to run undefeated in Hilton, it is harder to do than people like to think.

That is not what anyone has said.

They have said they don't matter any more than any other game.

Auburn lost twice at home this year. Home court doesn’t mean as much as it used to.

It is so dumb imo. I don't get it. I agree it will eventually lead to insane expectations. You can't on one hand say we have to support the team and then say only achieving the top levels of success is important. There are so many teams in Division 1 that getting a bowl win, winning a conf. tournament, etc. While they may not be the ultimate goal they are still fun for both fans and for players to win. We shouldn't be diminishing them because as you say it will only lead to more apathy. Idk I had a lot more fun winning against Miami this year than losing against Memphis. I am not going to remember who did and didn't play but I do remember how much more enjoyable it was to watch the bowl game this year and how much better it feels to cap off the season with a win. And I love winning the Big 12 tournament. Some fantastic memories watching those games.
