honestly i don't know that i'd call it all that disappointing because its pretty much the expected result.

the big 12 is very deep, and overall still rated out about as high as last year before conference play, but Houston is the only one that truly looked elite through the season. Arizona\Tech looked like solid sweet 16 teams most of the year. BYU was a bit of a wild card based on how hot they got to end the season. Meanwhile, that group of Duke\Houston\Auburn\Florida\Alabama\Tennessee has pretty much stayed at the top of the metrics all season long.

Tech losing to Arkansas would be disappointing based on those metrics, but Tech is also down a large piece without McMillian.
I still think Alabama is a bit fraudulent, hoiball adjacent style of team that lucked out to play 2 non great shooting teams the first 2 rounds when their shots weren't falling, then got red hot right when they needed it against offensive minded BYU tonight. Live by the 3 die by the 3 if I've ever seen a team.

They made the final 4 last year and at least the elite 8 this year that isn't fraudulent

Yeah I suppose not. So many elite shot makers. I've wanted to see an Alabama/ Iowa State matchup for awhile now. Not the last 2 months version of ISU though.
