He was a sophomore and we just flat out weren't very good that year. He had no help at skill positions.Rocco is the first ISU QB that I can recall leading us to late victories. Dekkers threw a lot of INTs during his one year as a starter and he didn't look very good overall, but play calling May have had something to do with that. He didn't take a lot of shots down the field. Even though he played JUCO ball this year, those reps were valuable for him and he put together a solid season. Hopefully the team that picks him up is a good fit for him.
In other news, Aidan Bouman is using his covid year and returning to South Dakota, where he will start for the 4th straight season.
Eh Park was mobile and had a cannon he was just off his rockerHe's got the most raw talent of any QB that's ever been at ISU.
He didn't have Dekkers arm though. That guy has elite arm strength. There are starting QBs in the NFL that wish they had his arm. It's a shame he messed up to a point where he couldn't get a 2nd chance(even at another D1 school). I think he would have been special at ISU eventually. I give the guy credit for owning it and not blaming anyone else. I really hope he finds his way somewhere in professional footballEh Park was mobile and had a cannon he was just off his rocker
Don’t get me wrong I agree that Dekkers has a strong arm, I just saw Park make some throws no one else has. I also think Dekkers deserves a chance at the NFL.He didn't have Dekkers arm though. Park was a hell of a talent as well. Absolutely no argument here.Don’t get me wrong I agree that Dekkers has a strong arm, I just saw Park make some throws no one else has. I also think Dekkers deserves a chance at the NFL.

No doubt he needed to improve mentally, but you saw him as a sophomore on a lousy team. I mean just give him Charlie Kolar and his completion % goes up 5% and he probably gets 5 more tds and 500 more yds. Brock probably doesn't lead that team to any more wins than they had. We never got to see him play as an upperclassmen on a decent team.Talented but not sure about between the ears and ego.
Also I don't think of touch on throws when I think of his game.

He had Hutchinson but that was about it. Sophomore version of Noel which was not near the junior and senior versions. Running back room was very beat up all year too.He was a sophomore and we just flat out weren't very good that year. He had no help at skill positions.
If he makes a roster it will be an incredibly unique story. And in a good way, I think.Don’t get me wrong I agree that Dekkers has a strong arm, I just saw Park make some throws no one else has. I also think Dekkers deserves a chance at the NFL.
Rocco and the receivers were clutch. Won a lot of close games.I wonder if the gambling stuff had not happened where would we be as a program right now. Would Dekkers played well enough to keep his job or would we have problems winning and Rocco takes over at some point? In hindsight I don't think we have the season we.juat did if Rocco doesn't get put in the situation he did the previous season.
That happens a lot with first year starters when their line cant block and receivers can't get open. That was a piss poor football team top to bottomHis stats were pretty good. He looked about the same in the game I saw him in last fall- good but kinda weird with the ball at times.
At ISU I saw a deer in headlights that argued with coaches and teammates and personally I've never wondered about what he would have done.
The Rocco versus Hunter debate is exactly why scouts shouldn't get carried away with things like arm strength, arm talent and height.I agree. I'm perfectly happy with Rocco driving our train. Even before the gambling scandal surfaced, I wasn't really sure about Dekkers' leadership. Maybe that's not fair, but I just have a feeling our guys rally around Rocco better.

I don’t think he’s being “defensive”. He’s being fair. You seem to be pretty defensive about Dekkers. It's hard to know if that team was piss poor despite of him or in large part because of him. That team lost a lot of close games and Hunter wasn't able to lead any game winning drives (except for Iowa).
He seems to be the opposite of Rocco. Hunter knew he was going to be the starter for years. He impressed everyone in practice. Supposedly Campbell was going to take him to USC. When it was game time he kind of folded.
In contrast, it seems as though Rocco wasn't super impressive in fall camp and then kind of became a gamer who led us to two really great years.
So is he the next coming of Jeff George? He didn't have Dekkers arm though. That guy has elite arm strength. There are starting QBs in the NFL that wish they had his arm.
