Want to know why the Houston player was not guarded? The genius of screens and noticing tendencies leaves us with a Purdue player 19 feet from the basket not guarding anybody and basically gives Houston the equivalent of a two on one fast break.

I'd like to know how this compares to other years. Kenpom too since it was really close.
In 2024, the Warren Nolan NET rankings had three of the Elite 8. But, UCONN was 2 and Purdue 3. A mixed bag. Kenpom did a little better 4 of the Elite 8 and 3 of the final 4.
I wonder how the media will spin if both big 12 teams make it and only one sec makes it. Or if none make it.
Correct. Also, the defender I circled in Red. If you watch live action , his player is doing nothing the entire sequence and even in this “still” picture is in Horrible position against the guy he is supposedly guarding.
He need d to crash down immediately to help either th ball or the in bounds passer.
A complete breakdown all-together and a great job by the Houston team.
My buddy who follows Purdue Basketball said it’s been a thorn in their side defending in bounds plays.

Good spot. His man was not going to have time to shoot so he should have left his man to help out, but was lazy. Poor coaching. Purdues coaches ceiling is lower than Sampson.
I think it will be something like: "The Big XII landed two teams in the Final Four, and the biggest surprise is that Iowa State is not one of them like we were saying they could be all year!" / sarcasm.
Seriously, if Houston and Texas Tech make the Final Four, who really cares what any of the national media say. Personally, I am hoping for a mixed bag. I want Alabama (Fan), Houston (Conference), Florida (Pool) and Michigan State (Pool) in the Final Four.

If Tech and Houston make it they'll say they had soft schedules.
And people will think that's real, ignoring how they won so many games in the tourney or Duke's conference.
I would say this tourney showed conference realignment helped the Big 12 in basketball more than any other P4.
