And he looks like he's playing like this means the world to him.

I had plenty of Duke fatigue over the last 10-20 years but I'm kinda excited that it won't be an all SEC Final Four.
This Duke team has more talent than any other teams in NCAA. They have 4 or 5 NBA first rounders.

Secretly becoming a Duke fan right so I win a pretty substantial office pool. I need Houston over Tennessee tommorrow and then Duke beating anybody in the title game.

We've got a LONG WAY TO GO to compete with this money in the last 1/3 of the season and MM. These are some amazing athletes that are competing for Final 4.
Yes, if last year wasn't eye opening enough, this year certainly has been. What I've been watching has been making me doubt that even if fully healthy this team could've pushed past the Sweet 16. Guess we'll never know.

It's Alabama (not the SEC) in only their third Elite 8 EVER against the MBB Devils themselves. So many people talk about separating team success from conference success, but it is hard to do at the end of the day. Isn't it? That goes both ways.

FWIW, if it was football, I would 100 % understand. Rooting for Duke vs. Alabama in a CFP Game would make sense for the sport. However, I think a team like Alabama winning instead of Duke in MBB is actually also good for the sport.

Nothing to do with my personal feelings as a fan. High Tide! :)
It's cool. Just shooting back, over your bow. I have no bad feelings of you being a 'bama fan. It's one of your teams and you have every right to cheer your team on. They had a great year with their high SEC athletic budget and their high NIL budget. Congrats, I guess.

My snarkyness is mostly directed to the SEC, Alabama being a part of. I don't care for their conference and for their part in making college athletics what it is today. I'm also not a fan of Oates anymore, after the murder incident, involving a couple of their players, one of them a super highly regarded freshman who got away without even a wrist slap.

It doesn't matter to me that it is their BB team, and not FB. The SEC and Big 10 are making their move to take over the sport of BB. Clear evidence of this is evident this year. In upcoming years, I only expect it to get worse, for the little guys. Duke is not a little guy in the sport of BB. It doesn't matter, the ACC is overall a 3rd rate conference to the P2 now, and the division will only get wider without some type of change.

It's hard for me to root for any team in the P2 under the current scenario.

I agree with most of what you said, but Duke is still EVIL in MBB.

Have you ever seen Duke in a neutral environment before?

I saw them in the Sweet 16 @ Atlanta in 2006. It was GROSS! All of those Duke kids in their JJ Reddick jersies flapping their arms out at every call. Now, they are all adults flapping their arms out at every call against Cooper Flagg.

It's a cult with a Blue Devil!

Just say NO to Duke!

:eggplant:

P.S. Seriously, from what I saw last night, Duke is cutting down the nets in San Antonio. None of the other 5 remaining teams can deal with that. They are a very impressive basketball team.

Sheyer's senior season when they won it was a team that probably wasn't overwhelming athletically but was just super efficient. Their offense was a dream to watch.

I know this team is very talented but they're also playing really well on the whole.

You are probably right. I can imagine their fans, maybe much like KU. Their success has deluded them.

Still, apart from Houston, I will be rooting for them. The alternative is just watching the SEC win. I really hope Houston can win today. Number one, I'd like at least one B12 team to make it to the Final 4. Two, I'd like to see if Houston, clicking on all cylinders, can beat Duke. I think they can, but it will be tough.

Duke is playing very well right now. They sort of remind me of the Bird, McHale, Parish Celtic teams with their excellent extra passing ability, Flagg, Knueppel, Maluach. all freshman, btw.

The Rt. hand bracket winner meets the Lt., correct? So if Houston wins today, it would be Duke v Houston?
