Heavy rain and a couple of good thunderclaps here in north Ankeny since about 11:45p. Tapered off for a bit, and then just picked back up.

Snowing pretty hard in West Des Moines. Didn't take long for the ground to be covered. Big pretty flakes.

Snowing hard in N. Ames, ground is covered, but the concrete is warm enough to have it melt. I had 3/10ths in my gauge this morning when I out and checked from last night.

This year's weather seems to be swinging more wildly than usual. Snow, 2 days after 80 degrees, is quite the adjustment

Not really. Two years ago:

3/26........40 degrees with about 1/2 of snow
3/31........78 degrees
4/5...........46 degrees
4/12.........84 degrees
4/16..........41 degrees
4/19..........77 degrees
4/22...........42 degrees

It's called spring.

It's not just this week. It feels like we have had more of these swings the past couple months than usual.

And cherry picking a different year doesn't mean it still isn't abnormal.
