...read this in the ESPN article up right now. WTF? I think Cutler is loco.

"I was surprised they decided to trade me this soon," Cutler told FoxSports.com. "I didn't want to get traded. This wasn't me. They [the Broncos] had been going back and forth saying things, wanting me to be their quarterback and then they didn't.

I really didn't want this. I love Denver. I really like my teammates. I didn't want it to get this far."

I'm glad Sage is gonna get his shot with the Vikes. The 2 meetings b/n the Bears & Vikes this year are a lot more intriguing now.

I'm a bears fan and i like the move. I would tell you if I didn't but where do the vikings get off ragging on the bears? It is a lot to give up, but so are the other first round picks that they have wasted on quarterbacks. If you were going to tell me that the bears were going to use two first round draft picks on two quarterbacks and one of them was defininitely going to be good, I would be really happy. That is essentially what happened and they got a 3rd rounder. good day for bears, and good day for denver.

A ton to give up.

But I think it's a decent move for the Bears. Really solidifies that QB spot for the foreseeable future - something that has not been the case for...well - many years.

That's what Broncos fans thought of Cutler when they drafted him I'm sure. But then McDaniels hurt poor Jay's feelings. Hopefully Lovie doesn't do the same...

If I were a Bears fan I would be excited that the franchise actually did something about their QB situation, but I would be a little nervous with how the Cutler experiment will actually pan out.

What do you mean you can't believe the Bears gave up two first-rounders. Denver said they wouldn't talk to anybody who wouldn't give them two first-round picks. That was a given.

Cutler...young...some early career success...but by all knowledgable accounts a problem waiting to surface off the field.

I think time will show that the Broncos might have gotten the best of this deal.

Point well taken! Happily I stand corrected
Not so much, I'll take Urlacher, Harris, and Olsen, but let's see...

Rex Grossman, Mark Colombo, David Terrell, Cade McNown, Curtis Enis, Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Conway, Alonzo Spellman, etc.

The bad far outweigh the good. And if you look at the good picks, except for Oleson, have been on the defensive side of the ball.

Good post. The Bears' history of drafting 1st round RBs and QBs has been horrible...Cade McNown, Rex Grossman, Raasham Salaam, Curtis Enis, Cedric Bensen. Giving up 2 first rounders to get a young, NFL Pro-Bowler was a good decision in my mind. And they got a 3rd round pick. And they gave up nothing defensively.

The Bears didn't get a 3rd round pick, they gave up a 3rd round pick.

Cutler + a 5th round pick = Orton + two first round picks + a 3rd round pick

That's too much to give up if you ask me...

I think orton will do fine. he is just like cassel. a kid that listens to the coach and has a good enough arm to throw safe passes and dink and dunk passes. I think it will be good enough until we find a good qb to draft. I still like graham harrell. i really hope no mark sanchez he just doesnt do it for me.

Amazing deal for the Bears. Two first round picks is not THAT much to give up for a 25 year old franchise QB, especially when you'd been as bad as the Bears at trying to find a QB.

The Bears were scheduled to have 9 picks in the 2009 draft, weren't they? And the Bears historically aren't that good at drafting in the first round, but they are good in the later rounds. This is a move that they absolutely had to make.

The Bears still have a lot of work to do, but bringing in the franchise QB is a great start. People say he has no one to throw to -- this is true, but the guy is 25. This isn't a Brett Favre deal when you're bringing a guy in for one year.

The Bears are now also bringing in Orlando Pace, and a guy like Tory Holt wouldn't surprise me much, either.

Good job, Bears.

I know no one here really cares, but it will be really interesting to see how Jason Campbell reacts.

Daniel Snyder reportedly REALLY wanted Cutler, so the Redskins basically just did the exact thing to Campbell as Denver did to Cutler and really pissed him off.

These players seriously need to quit being such babies. It's really pathetic.

Fact of the matter is that if they weren't average QBs and/or cancers in the locker room they wouldn't be on the trading block.

I think you describe the situation to a t. That is dead on. The Bears actually made a move, which is incredible, but we have yet to see how well it will work out. I still remember the Rick Mirer deal (although it is unfair to Cutler to compare him to Mirer).
