wow. since moving to iowa i have learned to hate vikings fans just as much, or even more than packer fans. this is why. ^ they are probably twice as snarky, with half the reasons.

Some quick facts about Jay Cutler:

In 2008 he had a 85 QB Rating which was 16th in the league
In 2008 he threw 18 INTS which was 2nd highest behind Favre
In 2008 his YPA was only 7.35 which was 10th in the league. He threw for a lot of yards, but was 2nd in the league in attempts. In Chicago, we won't throw 600+ times a season.

In 2007 he was 12th in the league with a 88.1 QB Rating
In 2007 he had the 12th highest INT total
In 2007 his YPA was 9th at 7.49

I am not really sold on him being all that great. He seems to be mediocre at best. He probably can improve, but he's also going to a worse offense, so we'll see what happens.

Something to think about is Jeff Garcia has had a better QB rating the past two years and could've been had for cheap.

Bryon Leftwich put up similar QB rating numbers when starting for a majority of the season.

The Bears def. overpaid no matter what. Their defense is getting old, and there are not many offensive options on the team.

And the optimism about Cutler is why I hate Bears fans. They still have a ton of holes on their team, and made a HORRIBLE trade!

Someone on this board said MN is where QBs and WRs go to die, yet MN put up a season (prior to the Rams) in which they set the record for most points scored in a season.

I am ripping on the Bears for facts about the team. Bears fans rip on the Vikes for subjective reasons like yours...

I don't hate the Bears, but to think they are going to be good is crazy. Perhaps they will be better than the Vikes, but the Bears are still going nowhere fast.

You have to take into account that those were his first 2 years as a starter in the league. Go look at someone like Brady's stats for his first 2 years, very similar to Cutlers. The kid is young, very young, which I would see as a huge positive as he's already near the top of the league as a QB goes already and he will play for probably another 12+ years.

Jeff Garcia is a veteran, not a fair comparison. But if I was choosing between 2 QB's with similar numbers I'd always take youth over a guy who's only got a couple years left.

Byron Leftwich hasn't started in 3 years, maybe you meant his first seasons as a starter? He passed for less yard, lower avg, less TD's, about the same INT's, and a lower passer rating.
