Something that always seems to be overlooked: the unseen qualities that contribute to the team's overall performance. As an example, I by no means would consider myself a naturally gifted athlete. But I have a unique distinction, I've never seen before: in the 35 years I played soccer (from HS to semi-pro), every team I joined was in last place when I joined and first place when I left. I believe what I offered was comradery and personality cohesion. I took this off the field year round. And, year by year we got better. I look at Niang as that type of person.
Was your best friend who you always did things with also Michael Jordan?

I said I wasn't naturally gifted, but I'm pretty sure I could dance circles around Jordan on the soccer field. Kidding aside, Jordan demanded the best from his teammates. I wasn't that type of person. I would work more towards personality cohesion. That said, he is the GOAT and I will always bow to him.

Some of these idiot Celtic fans think they know more about basketball than Brad Stevens.

Boston fans are almost as obnoxious as Philadelphia fans.

In the comments some of those guys think he is Bill Lambeir. lol
I have to laugh at the "tried to injure our star player" comments. Dudes, he grabbed his upper leg and tried to prevent him from getting back on defense quickly. The player pulled against it and was out of it easily. It likely wouldn't have even been noticed if the player didn't make a big scene and draw a T. There was no risk of a trip - it was more akin to a jersey tug in soccer. That being said, if you are objective about it you want a player who is willing to do any little thing to help your team win even if relegated to the bench. That's Georges.

I get holding a grudge but a portion of that fanbase is ridiculous.

I think about Jerry Jones and Terrell Owens. Owens famously celebrated a TD by running over 50 yards away to pose on the Cowboys star in the middle of the Texas Stadium field. After his next TD he did it again and George Teague ran after him and knocked him down earning an ejection and a fine.

Did Jerry hold a grudge about TO disrespecting the Cowboys? Not only did Jerry later sign Owens, at the welcome press conference Jerry had giant bowls of popcorn as a nod to his Showtime nickname. When asked if TO's star celebrations bothered him Jerry said with a laugh what he had done before the celebrations (scored TDs) bothered him a lot more.

The Boston/nyc/Chicago sports fan acts tough but typically is the softest human imaginable.

They shattered the record for jacking threes last year and will shatter it again easily this year.

Let’er fly Georges don’t even hesitate.

The funny thing is, if Georges had pulled the bench thing while playing for the Celtics, they'd probably love him for it.

Kinda fun comparison. Not familiar with these WAR-like stats, but Fred easily wins in BPM and VORP. Those stats aren't kind to Georges.

Fred and Monte had the ball more, I'd guess Georges is hurt on these stats by a ton of standing around at the 3pt line.
I've always hoped someone would let him run a bit more of his old man game in the mid, but maybe it just doesn't work. More likely its just that nobody likes mid range.

when he had that 30 point bust out with Cleveland his old-man game was on full display. Seems like if he gets his usual 20 mins it'll be all 3s, but if people are hurt / resting / or they have some weird situational matchup and he plays 30 mins ... look out for the YMCA game!

I can kinda understand why Celtics fans are in panic mode. Have you looked at their depth chart on ESPN?

Current projected starting lineup:
PG: Derrick White
SG: Anfernee Simons
SF: Jaylen Brown
PF: Georges Niang
C: Luka Garza

As currently structured, he's going to get a lot more minutes. Wouldn't stun me if the Celtics made more moves or used this season as a way to get their Salary Cap improved, but with their current roster, they may not be able to get any rebounds at all.

I just want Georges to have a nice season, put up 40% from 3 again, and get himself one last contract and pocket another $6-15m.
the stint with Atlanta really helped I think, Trae Young trusted him and they played off each other well. was nice to see he could steadily produce with 25% more mins.

If Celtics fans don’t understand that the team is, if not trying to be bad, certainly not trying to be good. Tatum is out for the year, they have their own #1 pick, and they needed to dump salary for the year. Everything they are doing right now is with 2027 and beyond in mind.

Fun fact- Georges Niang has the most regular season wins of any player in the NBA in the 2020s.
One of my favorite fun facts. He's got 295, Tatum has 291, and Jokic has 288, then a big gap to Bridges in 4th place. With the solid moves the Nuggets have made and the Celtics' likely down season, Niang will probably lose the top spot this year, but he hopefully won't fall any lower than 2nd.
