I’m not in your area, but that’s insane. I had Lennox furnace and AC systems installed last year for $5250 I believe.

I quoted lots of places and got a pretty basic set up. $20k is definitely not the minimum
I think with recent the changes to the regulations surrounding refrigerants, you’re seeing companies having to go with air conditioning units that are more costly and less available.

I had Lazer Home Services install a new furnace, AC,.and water heater for $10k about 3 years ago. I had them install a new furnace/heat pump, AC, and water heater in my son's house for about the same price 2 years ago.

True comfort. Would recommend to anyone. Actually worked to diagnose my issues and then run through the best options and prices. Never felt like a team just looking to make a sale. Family-run and the owner of the business is in the field making quotes and makes himself available for any questions, which I appreciated.

My Rheem has worked like an absolute charm for 5 years. Hell, just had to replace the filter for the first time at the last annual service. It's a beast and crazy efficient.
You should probably replace the filter more frequently…. That’s not and indictment one way or h the e other on the performance of the furnace but more just to maintain the furnace in better condition for the life of it.

I actually do the bi-annual maintenance from the company that installed it and the last service was the first time they recommended doing it. It's huge, like 6 inches thick and drawer size, they're apparently made to last a while.

We purchased an acreage from an older couple in October 2024. They had not taken care of the property over the last couple years so we added an American Home Shield (AHS) warranty at closing.
The a/c unit in the house started to fail this spring and could not keep up with the extreme heat days.
Long story short, filed a claim... $2450 cost to us after warranty but the HVAC company who did the work said "it would've cost five times as much without AHS."

Now we’re on the Lennox vs Rheem debate. I will pass on Carrier and Trane.
No experience with Rheem HVAC, but I have not been one but impressed with my water heater. The gas valves keep failing - been through 3 since it was installed April 2020. Thankfully all have been covered under warranty but still frustrating. Came from a supply house, so it's not one of the cheap home improvement store models.

We had our system replaced a couple years ago and went with Green's. We were really happy with the result. The cost was reasonable as well.

Ours uses the same (they are fairly common with newer systems) - replace annually

Those 6” deep filters have some pretty large pressure drops that make your fan work harder( it’s probably only a 1/2 hp motor). It will eventually lead to wearing it out quicker… especially if you don’t change your filter frequently and/or it could cause enough of an airflow restriction that your cooling coil isnt able to reject the heat quick enough and you could get issues.

We’ve had issues with our white and Rodger’s controls/valve on our rheem water heater as well. I’ve replaced mine twice since getting a new water heater about 5 yrs ago. I’ve heard it’s pretty common for those models.

It is actually the opposite with a deeper filter. Deeper filter means more filter area which in turn equates to less pressure drop across the filter. It can filter substantially more particulates than a normal 1 inch thick filter without increasing the pressure drop. That is the reason they are used in industrial and commercial settings. Better air filtration and lower labor costs to change out every 6 months or annually.

Better air filtration - sure. But not less pressure drop.

When you find a good HVAC company, you don't tell anyone else... I don't want my service call times to increase!

General rule of thumb, if you hear them doing a lot of advertising, you are getting screwed on pricing. If you have never heard of them, but they've been in business forever, use them!

Highly don’t recommend One Hour. I’ve had Haselhoff out a few times and they’re great.
