Wasn't Jayden Jackson previously listed at 220 lbs? He is now 190. Zay Robinson went from 6'1" to 5'11". Trey Verdon went from 6'2" 225 to 6'1" 250. It seems like we bulk up our defensive ends too much. Ikenna Ezeogu weighed about 220 lbs when he got on campus and is now 285.
Unless you’re Will McDonald freak of nature, you better have some bulk to hold up as a DE in our system.

With the 3 man front, you need some bulk. At least on one side. I think what they’re looking for in a SDE is Uwazarike. Someone who can set the edge. Ezeogu fits that mold. WDE can be smaller. McDonald was too small, but he was so quick that OTs couldn’t get ahold of him.

From what they said this Spring, Uwazurike will line up all over the place—much the way Will did.

The main pure strongside guys sound like will be redshirt freshmen Jace Gilbert and Alijah Carnell.

And I think it was Big Citrus who said in Dallas that Tamatoa McDonough is a “specimen”.

I think they have him listed now at 6’5” 265.

Looks like Coach Sheed will have lots of flexibility in that room.

We need a couple of badasses to emerge at D-line.

If we are being honest we have been below average here a lot since Enyi Uwazurike and Will McDonald jumped to NFL. And that's normal, we are not Georgia or Alabama.

At the same time, it's been a couple years since they have been gone and we need a difference maker at DE. Too many games last year the QB's had 5 seconds plus to throw: Kansas, Iowa, ASU, Utah, and Miami and other games come to mind.

I’ll note that Kuol Kuol is listed at 6’6” 290, after being 260 in high school.

Good gain, but looking at the photos he posted, I’d say he still needs a year to work on upper body and leg strength. Still, helps that he enrolled early.

I always wait to see whether players keep their quickness when they add that much weight, since that hasn’t quite worked out we for some of our more interesting OL signees.
