West Ames also, didn't get the alert on any of our 3 phones. Woke up when I heard the sirens.i think we were *just* outside of the warning zonePhone warning went off a bit earlier here in west Ames. We’re in the basement, but I think the worst is southeast of us and moving at a pretty good clip.
I just happened to be up (heard rain and thunder and needed to shut a window) and hadn’t turned my phone off last night. It was in another room.My phone again never went off. Luckily light sleeper and heard sirens.
KCCI did earlier so we switched to 13. I’m going back to bed.13 just went to regular programming so hopefully worst is over.
What a stupid way to start a Saturday. Woke 3 sleeping children (who appeared to be ready to sleep in for a while) and took them down to the basement.
You’re a glass half full this early in the morning.well better than dying. load em up and hit a farmers market this morning
Same boat. 11 year old will go back to sleep, but 2 and 3 year old, no shot. What a stupid way to start a Saturday. Woke 3 sleeping children (who appeared to be ready to sleep in for a while) and took them down to the basement.

Central Hancock county with 4 inches of rain. Hearing south hancock got more.Big rain going through the neighborhood. Might be our first rain of over 2” for this summer.
The KCCI guy was less good. He said at one point, “we weren’t really ready for severe weather this morning”. Think they were a little understaffed and caught off guard.I thought the young 13 weather guy did a great job. Neat to hear explanation of colors on the radar, winds, etc.
I was impressed.
