New floor for Big 12 MBB/WBB

Did you not watch Texas Tech's best player try to come to a sudden stop, do the splits, and have to leave the game with a groin injury?

With 3 more games left to play in the Big 12 tournament involving several projected NBA 1st round draft picks, I'm guessing the law suits would be massive if any of those guys suffered serious injuries from the obvious traction problems.
I bet the lawsuits are already in the works. All the teams already out will swear that the floor cost them the chance to win and make the Sweet 68.

The real reason for the 180

Correct. It's not new. It's not experimental.

There will be a case study some day. Not on the court itself, but for the online reaction.
This is like any product in the testing phase. They will continue to refine it and make improvements. This isn't the last we've seen of the video court. Every product needs to be put through the paces outside of the controlled parameters of manufacturer's tests to know how it will actually perform. This is a part of that process.

Nate Schuster brought up on the CF after dark post-post game that the seams in the floor were noticeable, even on tv. He mentioned that it caused the ball to bounce differently depending on where it landed on the floor. It happens on wooden floors a little bit, but way more on this glass floor.

After Dark reported last night that the 4 semifinal coaches took a vote on the court, and all but TJ voted for switching back to the traditional court.

Guess I can't blame TJ since we've won our two games by an average of 35 points.

If you don't think there was an inordinate amount of slipping in those games yesterday, I can't believe you were watching. This was a no-brainer

It seems like it was more slipping and then sliding. Whereas on a regular court you just slip.

if one of our players had tweaked something on the glass floor, we would all be losing our sh*t.

Maybe Firestone or Goodyear could jump in here for new shoe treads for different courts like they do for different Nascar race tracks. But really, I'm guessing what shoe a person is wearing also has a bearing on slippage just as it would on different wood courts.

The online reaction isn’t what made the big 12 switch. My guess is the powerful coaches and ADs privately made a huge deal out of it.
Yormark left it up to the semifinal coaches and 3 of 4 asked him to switch it out.

They'll refine the tech and it'll be back. Good try on the Big 12s part. Let's see what the tech looks like a year from now (it was a 3 year deal to use this court).

I figured they had, but obviously not enough. From my understanding, the NBA had a three point shooting & dunk contest and skills challenge on it, which obviously isn't the same as a game.
Even the all-star game they are just shooting 3s and olé drives and dunks.

I'm sure they still have the old floor, but I doubt it is being stored at T Mobile Arena. With the 6PM game, maybe they are able to get it on a truck and get it up here in time?

I would be surprised if the wood floor wasn't already in the back of a trailer parked at the loading dock, "just in case" before the tournament even started.
