*** Official #23 Tennessee vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

How many times did we say free throw shooting would be our downfall in the tournament. Combine that with JJ out, there isn’t much more to explain.
Been saying that all year.... that FT shooting would cost us in the tournament. It was also rebounding tonight... but FT shooting basically cost us any chance in the end.

Stirtz is a first round NBA pick if he does not play do they advance?

Boozer is a first team all American do they advance without him.

I can go on and on

When a team loses its best player to start the tourney the hole that creates will catch up with

To think otherwise is being naive

I'm not arguing that losing your best player doesn't hurt badly. But we're talking about an opponent that was #6 seed who was pretty solid in the SEC but nothing to write home about.

They got absolute run off the gym by Florida. And I've seen many posts here downplaying the ability of that team.

Unfortunately this probably wasn't that surprising. We looked great without Jefferson against Kentucky, but there are countless examples of teams looking great for a game without their best player and then coming down to earth after that. Maybe one year we'll catch a break
It’s almost like people don’t realize Kentucky was a 7 seed that wasn’t all that good.

I appreciate the cope people trying to think this team wasn’t at a massive disadvantage without Jefferson, but he was pretty clearly ISUs best player.

Sweet 16 with your best player going out is not bad. It sucks but it is what it is.

Duke had a major impact player play today after having knee surgery two weeks ago

Yeah all injuries are totally the same and JJ limping around walking slowly at shoot around yesterday totally showed he should have been just been out there, ya know?

Everyone that loses one of their best players wins every game folks. We are the only ones that don't.

We all knew this team wasn't making a deep run without Jefferson, as disappointing as it is. Just typical ISU luck to lose yet ANOTHER key player to injury before getting going in the tourney.
