**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

I'm curious about Xzavion Mitchell. He didn't play much this season, but was a highly rated recruit that I think all of us were excited about. I'd be happy to see him stay and continue to develop for us, but anymore, that usually doesn't seem to be the norm.
I feel like if TJ had told him in their end of the season meeting that he didn’t expect him to contribute this year, Mitchell would have entered the portal.

Everyone’s doing MMA?
MMA inspired workouts and sparring aren't unique at all. Just like lots of programs use military inspired workouts. Lots of programs use wrestling style workouts. There's tons of Hot Yoga and Pilates out there

I'm just saying that every program has their 'thing' in the off-season and nothing TJ does isn't in wide use across the country.

You can tell he's from the Mac tree because of the insane conditioning standards. That's been a Mac staple that Jake, DeVries, Huss and pretty much everybody else on that tree has carried forward.

Eddie Sutton used to get football pads and helmets on his players for rebounding drills in the offseason and even after a game he didn’t think they rebounded well enough.

They don't have any commits atm either since they are going for "More Quality players" according to some of their fans on their boards lol.
The good ol' Kansas State Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Who Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too

They’ve also conveniently forgotten that they finished 9th in the B18 last year.

Insufferable fan base

The other part they don't realize is the portal is literally akin to free agency and calling all our players we picked up "mid", showing they really don't understand how any of this works.

Seriously - get put in the weakest bracket in the tournament and get on one hot run and all of the sudden they think they know ball (when Carver will be just as empty as it has been any other year the last two decades).

Jefferson, the All-American, was also "mid," as was Cujo who's on the Nuggets.

IMO we've just seen pieces of Batemon's game. During Nov-Jan he was primarily a spot up shooter and average defender. Over the last 45 days he's become more comfortable driving the lane and his defense has become elite. By next November, expect we will see an absolute stud.

Projecting an early starting lineup:
Toure
Williams (PG2 & primary ballhandler when Toure on bench)
Batemon
Momcilovic
Buchanon or Pleta

From bench Cyclones get:
  • Non-starter among Buchanon or Pleta plays 15-20mpg
  • 15mpg from Gray and/or Wiggins at off guard/wing
  • Kiss fills in 10mpg at PF
  • Add portal athletic/physical wing who is a solid rebounder and defender
  • Players like Mitchell and Rinaldo-Komlan surprise a bit (show 2027/28 potential)
So much for Mommy.

The tournament can't be everything in some scenarios and mean nothing in others.

Gotta be consistent with that one and as long as the national media continues to do a disservice to the sport by making the tournament the be all and end all, that's all that anyone is going to remember.

Plus, let's be honest. Everyone here would have a totally different view of this if the roles were reversed.

I think that's a better indication of how good they were than the elite 8 run.
I agree and I hate Iowa as much as the next guy, but we'd kill for an elite 8 right now and would say "who cares!" if we were the last big 12 team to make the tourney and finished the regulars season in the middle of the conference.

I think it's an interesting debate - Would you rather your team win 30+ games and miss out on an elite 8/final 4, or be a play-in game and make it to the final 4?

Was Texas's season more successful than Florida's?

That Kent State dude now heading to UH looks like a stud. Exactly the kind of guy we need. Maybe Manning + Singleton is a moneyball approach to the same end game solution? Because I'm sure Gillespie got a real nice bag from Coach Sampson.
Singleton is a stud- Just a freshman who started and played in the Big 10 as opposed to the MAC. His numbers will go up this year, and we have him for two more years after potentially.

Sir, my grandfather built these goalposts, and I will move them as I see fit.
