**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

Looks like we have a ton of guys between 6'3" and 6'5", we do have 3 true centers but only 3 True fowards without Milan...this is including the freshmen Kiss and DRK who will likely be out of the rotation. The biggest question mark I have is Xzavion Mitchell, who obviously didnt play much this year with an undisclosed injury. Hes listed at 6'6" and projected as a SF out of HS, i figured hed transfer but hasnt entered his name yet so TJ must have a plan to get him some playing time this year or the year after at least. You guys think he cracks the rotation this year?
I'm not sure what this means:

C - Buchanan & Pleta (both 6'10"+)
PF - Singleton & Manning (both over 6'7")
Freshmen - Kiss (6'7") and DKR (6'10")

6 players at 6'7" or taller is pretty typical and enough size to compete.

My take:

Otz has tried but NEVER consistently plays 9 guys. So, most likely, after the dust settles of non-con, he will play 8 guys. Here is my prediction:

Toure
Batemon
Bond
Singleton
Buchanan
---
Johnson
Prather
Pleta

Start with defense, bring offense off the bench.
I agree with your take on never getting 9 consistently, but it feels like after the team was left hanging with Jefferson going down to an injury and knowing they couldn't replace his production with one guy next season, they wanted two players they could rotate at the 4 similar to Buchanan and Pleta at the 5. With 5 guards to rotate through the 1-3, Singleton and Manning at the 4, and Buchanan and Pleta at the 5 (as mentioned). I think this roster has the most potential to consistently go 9 deep all season.

I think had Mason Williams been healthy last year he would have played - putting the rotation at 9. I think you're right on these 8 guys, but I also dont see how he will keep Manning and/or Wiggins off the floor, assuming one or both are capable big 12 dudes. He's not going to not play at least one of the three freshman, at least... 10+? mins a game, if they're big 12 ready, and usually it's "easier" for guards to play early than bigs. Gray is coming off an injury so i'm assuming we wont see him next year.

Since Otz has been at ISU, he's had at least one freshman play at least 25 mins a game - Nojus was the only one who didn't at 5.8 mins per game, but he was the only freshman in that class.

In '21 Tyrese Hunter played 31.9mpg
In '22 Lipsey played 29.5mpg
In '23 Milan played 30.2mpg
In '24 Nojus played 5.8mpg (the lone freshman in his class)
in '25 Toure played 25.3mpg

In saying this, I would assume Wiggins will play a decent amount next year, putting the rotation at 9, and I think Taj Manning is almost poor man's Dustin Hogue, without the scoring, whose role I think will be to rebound and play tough D, while giving a more impactful guy or two a breather. I dont think the last two guys off the bench will play more than 8-12 mins, but I could see them being in the rotation consistently. and with the aggressive style TJ plays, it would behoove us to have a 10 man rotation

This year could be different because someone has to spell Singleton at the PF spot. IMO, there is a much better shot that Manning fills those 10+mpg minutes than Pleta.

Statistically, what are the odds TJ continues to go with an 8 man rotation? OK, then.

11-man rotation it is! :p

For those interested.

Good for Omaha. I know it didn't work for him at ISU.

He played in 35 games (20 mpg) and started 24 at Wake.

His shooting percentages for shooting and averages for other stats look decent, but low-volume, will be interesting to see how it works with GC if he's expected to be more of a core contributor.

Do we have room on the roster? I was reading today where we were losing out on a major center talent AZ. ST. transfer Massamba Diop likely to Gonzaga. Thought we were done.

Can you link the article? I have a hard to time believing we were in on Diop.
I Googled and found these recent articles:

Not sure I believe them.

Those articles are saying we need to target Diop, not that we were targeting him. They use the flawed logic saying we need him based on the TN result.
