Is Jayden Jackson leaving Iowa State?

At the end of the day him staying was eventually going to cause discourse and issues. Anyone unhappy about his departure are missing the point, Rogers and staff want players to buy in or gtfo. Give an inch, give up your career, Jayden is young and he learned the hard way that college football is a business and uncontrolled emotion is a flaw that can't take on the beast of P4 football. Not on a reporter, and not on the coaches, sometimes it really is just bad decisions from young athletes who learn the lesson the hard way.

I don't have a problem with what Rogers said, I have a problem with a hack running with it in public. Lots of players get told stuff like this directly from coaches and they are fine with it because it stays in the locker room.

We will just have to agree to disagree mainly because Jimmy didn’t say this in the locker room and Seals overheard it. He said this in the media scrum after the spring showcase for everyone to hear and record, this wasn’t a side conversation that was off the record or something.

but Rogers never said he was "forced" to play Jackson - again, at a glorified practice.

So others in the scrum heard it too and didn't run out to publish it? So one guy in the entire scrum couldn't use discretion.

Right. I said it was a bad, clickbait headline. But I would imagine this player was more upset about what Rogers said than what the headline was, but I could be wrong. Seems pretty soft if he was more upset about the headline.

Bottom line, this guy wasn’t going to see the field regardless of what Seals posted. He was already solidly at the bottom of a RB room that is one of the biggest question marks going into the season.

A lot, I would venture almost all, of the players on a D1 roster have never faced adversity or had their talents questioned in any way in their athletic life. If a guy get upset about what any “hack” says on the internet, maybe he just isn’t built for this.

Big deal if Rogers said it in public. I have no doubt that Rogers and Roehl had privately said the same thing or something far more direct to Jackson multiply times.

All Rogers said was:
  1. Jackson hasn't shown much in practice
  2. His opportunities over spring practice have been limited because of off-field non-adherence to staff desires.
  3. Don't read too much into today's performance because the guys who have done things right on & off the field over the entirety of spring practice didn't play during the scrimmage.
When I heard the comment in the YT video, my thought was: Rogers didn't want fans/media to get excited about Jackson's performance because he was deep depth chart. So don't anoint him as the next Hansen or Abu.

Will be curious if we don't see the staff go after a JUCO RB who might get his associates after 1 year. Especially if Peppers isn't going to be ready by September.

Why would Rogers give a crap what fans or the media think about the RB depth chart? This was just the kid being publicly called out. If it was bad enough to the point it had to be brought in front of the media then he should've been kicked off the team before the game even took place.

What JFR said wasn’t bad, it was just taken out of context. It’s pretty common is the sports world to be “forced into the lineup”.

Wasn't bad. However, it didn't need to be brought up in that way in the media. My take is that if a coach trashes his players in the media, it won't be long till the players are doing the same to him in the media.
