••• 2026 Official Chicago Cubs Thread •••

Awesome! I decided to tune in for the 9th and I'm glad I did. PCA definitely atoned for his **** up.
I turned it off after the back to back HR’s but kept checking the gamecast on my phone. Saw Busch got it on and knew I’d kick myself if I missed a comeback walk off so turned it back on. Hell yeah.

Hopefully this can be a springboard and these guys can get the monkey off their back. Next 19(!!!) games are against teams currently under .500. The stat they showed on the broadcast last night was that the Cubs have played the most games against teams over .500 in the MLB. 10+ more than anyone else in the division.

Cabrera back tomorrow, Boyd back soon. **** it, let’s get hot again

At this rate, he won't finish the season with the Cubs. I could see them dumping him at the deadline for whatever they can get if, as it increasingly looks like, they are out of the race in mid-July. I predict he goes back to Japan for 27.
LOL, why would anyone trade for him at the deadline even if the Cubs ate all his salary if he's not going to help you in a playoff chase? If the Cubs wind up sellers then this season was a massive failure and extending Hoyer's contract was a huge mistake (which I think it was even when they announced it last year.) I really wish they had just cut bait with him and signed someone else for what we had to pay him.

What I think happens is the same crap that has happened the last few years. Cubs are in the hunt but not trending the right way so the front office will be conservative buyers at the deadline and add a few pieces they hope pan out without giving up a bunch of prospects for it. Either that or they do hardly anything at the deadline and hope they can retool in the offseason when a bunch of money comes off the payroll. The only way they are all-in for big trades at the deadline is this team gets hot again and looks like contenders.

Not trolling but neither team is going to win the division. You want to compare the history of the 2 teams, it's not even close. So climb back into you your hole and keep supporting the Cubs.
The post you originally quoted was him saying he thought the cubs were gonna come back and win when it was either 6-1 or 6-3, had nothing to do with the division. Get out of the thread

Do you know what other fanbase pulls out the history card because they suck in modern day?

No one said St. Louis didn't suck this year, we did not expect them to be good as they are rebuilding, but they are still ahead of the Cubs as of today in the standings. So I guess they both suck.

It's incredibly early still. Cubs have had quite a few injuries to deal with and rotation is starting to get healthier. Cardinals have some good young guys and have started well but through 61 games last year they were 34-27 which is better than what they're at now and we know how that ended up.

The Cardinals also traded away three of their higher priced players this off season, to kick in the rebuild. Many of us Cards fans are just happy we are playing exciting ball, but also understand we are not catching the Brewers. Sorry but teams capable of making noise in the playoffs do not go on 10 game losing streaks. There is an old adage in baseball, you are never as good as you think you are when you are playing your best, nor as bad when you are playing at your worst.

The Cardinals Had Zero Expectations coming into the year the only reason fans are happy with 32-28. Cardinals were forced to rebuild all of their old guys were past their prime and not producing the past 3 years. It was an easy decision for the Cardinals.

it was the smart decision, but not an easy one as the fan base expects to win.

I don't expect any of the divisional races in NL to be close with Dodgers, Braves, and brewers all winning by comfortable margins. New playoff system really doesn't put much of an importance on winning the division though. I just hope Cubs start to play better, add some arms at deadline, get in and anything can happen in playoffs.

It was easy decision fans weren’t showing up last year anyways might as well rebuild. All your star players were older or flawed like Contreras who was signed to catch but that didn’t last more than a year
