I've seen us sign a few future guys recently. What are the trends you're seeing and what about the level of talent so far. To me, it seems like we're defensive focused and O-line focused. It also feels like the dudes we're getting are similar to a Campbell-type level of talent.

Anyone feel like they have a grip on how our coaches are really doing so far? I'll hang up and listen.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, we're getting a few guys with lots of other offers. On the other hand, we're also getting too many guys who have not so many offers. Our QB commit is one example of that, and he seems a stretch to me. His stats don't just jump off the page. Our most recent WR commit seems to be a better QB than our QB commit.

They seem to be emphasizing speed over height at the WR position, which is definitely different than the previous regime and maybe a good trend, but the previous regime also signed two guys that had both size and speed in Eskeldsen and Overby.

They seem to be good at finding and signing interior defensive line guys, which the previous staff also seemed to be able to do but not quite to the extent that this staff does. We've had trouble recruiting at that particular position in the past and some years we'd be lucky to have three DTs on the squad, two of whom started out as DEs and were grown into DTs. At least, that's the way it felt at times.

But overall, I'm a tad disappointed in recruiting. This class is ranked in the 50s nationally, which is not going to get us where we want to be. If we get some of the guys who are looking at us signed, that could change, but I'm a little luke warm on the class so far.

The 26 class was kind of late minute recruiting so 50s is not a surprise. He is improving and has his 27 class so far in the mod 40s which was considered a higher class for Campbell.

Even this years recruiting is little behind like how many good QBs are out there right now. I wouldnt be surprised if they pick up a second qb in this class that blows up late. I do like how are going after lineman.

My honest thoughts so far is the guys were getting commits from so far in the 27 class, are very Paul Rhoads type kids. No other major offers other than ISU. A lot of the kids don’t even have another FBS offer. Going to be hard to recruit right now without ever playing a game though. Who they sign in the 28 class will be a huge. If the majority of the class is made up of recruits without other high major offers(just like Rhoads), then it could be a long tenure.

I was going to bring up the same thing. I would like to see some higher ranked recruits. I know stars aren't everything, but usually the kids with the more stars have more offers and more offers from bigger schools.

I'll let you know in 2 or 3 years.

How about when several of ours get actual rankings? When you consider we have 3 without any ranking, it equalizes that a bit.
That's a good point. Only thing is when guys don't even have a ranking, it tends to lead them to get lower ones when they come.

funny thing is we have seen this before. take a look at Iowa's commit just today, was unranked until a few days ago, similar offers to a lot of our guys, only one other P4 offer from BC. yet instant high 3 star, the day after his visit and before his commitment? 1780862726162.png
