I'm going to disagree with this. Are we getting a few players like you describe, certainly. But we are also getting some that a lot of other teams wanted as well.My honest thoughts so far is the guys were getting commits from so far in the 27 class, are very Paul Rhoads type kids. No other major offers other than ISU. A lot of the kids don’t even have another FBS offer. Going to be hard to recruit right now without ever playing a game though. Who they sign in the 28 class will be a huge. If the majority of the class is made up of recruits without other high major offers(just like Rhoads), then it could be a long tenure.
I think most of the newer commits are kids that just camped at ISU and got offered, so the coaching staff liked what they saw. I imagine some of these kids are gonna get better offers in the coming weeks. I really hope we can keep Moser if his recruiting blows up. We could use his speed at WR.I'm going to disagree with this. OL Will Slagel: Offers from Penn State, Iowa, Nebraska, Miami, Auburn, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Northwestern, Missouri, Stanford, Minnesota, Duke, Arkansas and North Carolina.
WR Bryson Thompson: Offers from Baylor, TCU, Mississippi state, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State in addition to a couple of mid majors.
OT Koen Hinzman: Offers from Cincinnati, Arkansas, Houston and Kansas State in addition to 6 mid-majors.
OL Drew Aagesen: Offers from Michigan State, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Minnesota in addition to Six Mid-majors.
S Jordan Crider: Offers from Kentucky and 5 mid-majors.
DB Jason Wooden: Only P4 offer was from Iowa State, but had 8 offers from mid-majors and most of them recruited him at WR. We're turning him into a CB.
TE Joe Vinyard: Offers from Baylor, and 15 Mid-majors or FCS teams.
The players not on this list include RB Isaiah Hansen (who is ranked as our second Highest recruit by On3 behind Slagel), DL Zivad Robinson, WR Blake Moser, QB Cash Hollingshead, OLB Josh McCarthy and TE/FB Joey Massey and even most of those guys have multiple Mid-major or FCS offers. The lone exceptions are Hansen, Massey and Hollingshead who each have just a couple of other offers.
I would expect more of that, kids today have figured out to commit and then still keep looking for a better deal. If it appears they flip, if not they take the offer from ISU. Only way to change that is to finish the season with 7 or 8 wins.As expected, Gavin Ericson-Staton decommitted and is going to Illinois.
6 of 14 have other high major offers. 8 don’t have another high major offer. Thats Paul Rhoads level recruiting. Again though, hard to recruit when you haven’t coached a game yet. Thats why the 28 class will be the one to watch.I'm going to disagree with this. Are we getting a few players like you describe, certainly. there are only 13 commits unless I missed one today.6 of 14 have other high major offers. 8 don’t have another high major offer. Thats Paul Rhoads level recruiting. Again though, hard to recruit when you haven’t coached a game yet. Thats why the 28 class will be the one to watch.
Why?I expect Robinson, Konkey and Jones to not make their visits this week. I think most of the current players scheduled for 19th will also be replaced.
I expect to land young and possibly Jordan, if he doesn't commit to KSU this weekend, this week.
We'll probably see several more campers from the 11th commit. Seems like they need a few LBs, DEs and CBs to fill the class
Not concerned until Jimmy starts talking about airport proximity
these "commitments" don't mean anything until they sign. even then, they don't mean that much anymore. kids are "committing" to their best offer on the table until something better comes along. As expected, Gavin Ericson-Staton decommitted and is going to Illinois.
