Texas Tech 10 Million Dollar Portal Season

He's playing both sides all the time now. Pushing to "save college sports" by buying legislation, but until that legislation actually arrives, he's accelerating anything he can to help his school in the meantime. Abusing the system while it can be abused, but also prepping to close the holes later on to still be the hero and the good guy.

Playing the game as it is, not how it ought to be, while also advocating for change. Supposedly.

So pretty much like all the top brands of college athletics

Remember, P2 leadership has been butthurt about Tech even before this

Exclusive clubs tend to hate how fungible money is.

He deserves criticism for not anticipating the blowback given the topic though

Which just means they were going to do it anyway. Best it be asap. The ruling on Sorsby doesn’t change the hurdles they’ll face in that, just the optics to their acolytes

He hasn’t even played. All we know is what we knew before , the ncaa is feckless. is

Separating because a school used courts for advantage, a tactic common in P2, and got a favorable ruling…yeah, a ruse
100% They're just going to use this as a shield and claim the NCAA doesn't have the ability/power to effectively manage the sport anymore and they need to operate as an independent entity with more regulations to "ensure a level playing field."

What does separation solve on that 'level playing field'? The SEC and B1G will both have the same issues the NCAA is currently having on their own. They're still going to need anti trust legislation to enforce the rules they say the NCAA can't.

They spent a lot of the last month talking about how they need to separate because THEY can’t stop breaking rules and using courts to bypass meek NCAA

So using this court ruling as a guise is no surprise

Just by breaking away it solves legit nothing, this will just be the primary exhibit on why the current situation isn’t working and that they would do better.

Reality is they would still face some issues. They might just be able get away with some of these things by having some agreements in place that prevent completely off the rails things like what TT have done.

While I think TT thing is absurd both bama and LSU also brought back pro athletes which while not as optically rough is still BS

And there is the issue that SEC schools not signing loyalty agreements.

Hey, I didn’t realize that Iowa State fought the NCAA to keep Hunter Dekkers eligible. News to me.

Now zombie Pete Rose has been spotted hitchhiking his way to find that Texas judge.1781048831017.png

Sorsby placed bets on Indiana while on the team as a freshmen. If his argument is he had an grambling addiction, should not he have to the addiction existed that freshman year, not now some 4 years later. I question he had

It’s a little funny that this happens on the first offseason with no spring portal.

If this happened last year Tech would have kicked him to the curb and found someone else.

They are surprised by a ruling in a lawsuit that they helped to facilitate? Yeah sure…
Yeah, they were surprised according to this reporter but obviously they won't publicly admit it. Certainly not the only lawsuit that's been filed with a surprise outcome to both parties.

And this reporter suggested the best case scenario for everyone is for Tech to settle with Sorsby on his RevShare/NIL deal for a reduced amount and Sorsby enters the NFL Supplemental Draft. And I agree with that.

I disagree with the first part but totally agree with you that settling and cutting him is the best path forward but they seem to be digging in more.

Will be interesting to see how much pressure the conference puts on them
