Texas Tech 10 Million Dollar Portal Season

Semi-seriously, is Texas Tech trying to get kicked out of the Big 12 on purpose? Take the ouster, don't end up playing Sorsby, then try to wing it down the line as a self-funded independent? Its cheaper than paying to leave the conference, and they can delusionally attempt to line up a "superior" independent schedule, and dream of the next realignment shuffle.

I honestly don't think they thought they'd get the injunction and didn't have a plan in place. That's all that makes sense here. The amount of damage they've done to their reputation in 2 weeks is massive. Once the seats inevitably get rearranged, there's no chance they get an invite from the SEC/Big 10. All to try and maintain the eligibility of a guy who has been a very average college quarterback.
There wasn’t a chance anyway

It’s clear they didn’t anticipate the blowback. Thinking it would be just another case of bypassing rules in this broken system.

They’ve been getting flak for being a greenblood, so now they’re defiant when getting criticized.

But talk is cheap, they have months before actually being defiant and playing him

I feel bad for Yormark. He is in a world of **** right now.
You're a better man than I. It's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who makes $5.6 million/year, just because their job is difficult at times. But you're right, he's in a difficult spot.

He's been doing great IMO all things considered. This is really out of his control but will be expected to fix it.

Guess we could argue the definition of voluntary. If someone holds a gun to my head and tells me not to do something, I don't consider my decision not to do something as voluntary. I'm thinking that's essentially what the Big 12 conference will do to Tech.

We'll all find out in the next several weeks. If it turns out I'm wrong, it won't be the first or last time.

I agree and that's my point. It shouldn't get to the point where the Big 12 has to threaten them.

It should have went like this:

1. Sorsby found to gamble
2. NCAA investigates
3. NCAA rules he's inelgible
4. Sorsby appeals
5. NCAA upholds he's ineligible
6. TT says they will keep him on scholarship and revenue share/NIL, but he is no longer on the football team. TT will also help get him help for his addiction.

Gambling remains a hard NO in college sports.

It's pretty ******* simple really, but TT needs to try to prove they aren't the bastard of Texas public universities.

Tech can kiss that goodbye. They're not getting the SEC or B1G invite.
As bad as this situation is, I could really do without all the pearl clutching from SEC and Big Ten fanboys on social media. No entities have done more to undermine college athletics than those two leagues in collusion with television networks and it makes me want to puke to see their fans get up on their high horse about any of this.

When the Big 12 inevitably backs down from doing anything, the Big 10 and SEC are going to act like they would do something different if it was their conference.
