Jack Kohnen committed to Iowa State!!!

Unfortunately Bruton and Henderson never made it to Ames and I don’t think Stensrud ever played basketball.
I was living a couple states away at the time and the internet wasn't much of a thing yet, so those years are a bit of a black hole to me.

Did we really have a recruiting class of 8? Holy smokes!
Yes but we never got The Australian PG on campus he was ruled ineligible because he played on a team with pros. I remember Floyd commenting the kid road his bicycle to practice and the NCAA is calling him a pro. BJ Briton I think. Might have the name mixed up but the story’s right.

Gerrald Henderson was also a big loss at guard. He looked like one of the best players in the Big 22 classic they hosted at Hilton

I thought Ann was a better fit for the pipeline, so the staff must really like Kohnen

In the current transfer portal era it's hard to get too excited about HS recruiting. Gotta get the guys on campus then actually see them contribute on the court too. Omaha Beilew is a perfect example of this as many here were worried he'd be a 1 or 2 year guy then off to the NBA. That didn't turn out well and we had a couple other classes that didn't quite pan out either.

That being said it is pretty cool to see ISU currently at the top of the 247 2027 class recruiting ranks. TJ's staff does a good job, we saw it this year with Toure and Batemon being big contributors and Lipsey and Milan also guys TJ brought in. Not every HS recruiting class will pan out in this era but its awesome to see us as major players at the level we have lately.
to be fair Omaha was only a 2 year player for ISU before moving on. LOL

I don't have a clue but I doubt high school players outside of the top 10 or 15 are demanding crazy numbers. Transfers like Milan who are proven and top dudes like Dybansta skew the narrative on NIL money.
So, not to be a downer, but Williams alluded to some potential issues in this class on the pod a couple weeks ago. Many assumed it was Harrington. Has this been rectified and all is well, or do we still expect some movement some where?

Williams is butt hurt about something so he’s trying to stir up **** that don’t exist….. probably pissed his boy Bennie is missing on recruits .

Not that it matters a great deal, but Joe Tipton, who was the first to tweet out Kohnen's commitment to Iowa State, referred to Kohnen as the 31st ranked overall player in the 2027 class, but the CycloneFanatic tweet refers to him as the 81st ranked overall recruit of the 2027 class.

I know these rankings will vary, but that's a pretty big difference.

Harrington was wanting to meet the new assistant coaches after being questioned on the other two leaving. Some idiots took that has him going back on his commitment until a new article came out that said he has meant them and is 100% committed to ISU. Again, people stirring things up for no reason.
