PCA splits are just insane for the past 30 days, last 15 even better too.

Pete Crow-Armstrong 2026 MLB Splits - ESPN

For the season he is actually hitting LHP for higher batting average than RHP. Last season he really struggled against LHP and even early this season too it felt like so has made some kind of adjustment apparently. Also seems like the move to leadoff or batting 2nd really lit a fire under him too as he's hit better there than anywhere else in the order. Wish they had tried it sooner last year instead of running Happ out there at leadoff for a good chunk of the season before they went with Busch there later in the year. The kid keeps impressing and we've seen him struggle at times even as he made his way up through the minors but he always finds a way to adjust then go on a tear when he figures it out.

He's only 24 years old so we maybe tend to forget during a slump he's still developing as a player at this level. Another interesting stat is look at how much better Busch is hitting LHP this year as a full time 1B compared to when they were sitting him against lefties in the past. .241/.374/.741 in 79 AB so far this year where last year in 87 total AB for the season he was .207/.274/.642 Still about the same K rate with 23 SO this year to 26 last year but much better contact and on base rates. Sometimes you have to not go so much with the analytics and just let these younger guys learn by trial and error. I've always felt that if you are going to commit to a guy as a possibly long term player at a position then you have to fully commit and not use the kids gloves with them by platooning them against their weaknesses. They will never improve against them if you don't let them face certain types of pitching on a regular basis.
