Peterson first batter faced pitching for the Cubs gives up a home run. Guess it can only go up from there.

Bregman didn’t even take the bat off his shoulder that plate appearance. Just wow, watched three strikes.

Really not a bad debut for Peterson today
Any guy that can go 5 innings and not get shelled right now is a good outing considering the current state of the pitching staff. I do worry with the lack of quality starting pitching right now that eventually it is going to bite the bullpen having to cover a lot of innings too. Right now the rotation is Shota Boyd Rea Assad and Peterson and all 5 are subject to short outings on a given night if they give up too many early runs. At a point where any of them may just have to wear it and eat some innings if they have a bad outing as Shota might be the only 1 of the bunch that could go 7 innings and 100 pitches right now. Boyd is just ramping back up from an IL stint, Assad and Rea usually cap out around 80-90 pitches most outings which gets you 5 maybe 6 if you are lucky and Peterson probably going to be about in that 80+ range too for now as he's been in and out of the rotation with the Mets.

Probably going to be a lot of up/down shuffling of the bullpen leading up to the All-Star break then hope we start to get some guys back healthy going into mid July. Just need to stay in the wild card hunt at this point and I worry if we don't get some health to the pitching staff soon all the innings and luck we've had using up the pitching depth in the organization is going to catch up at some point. Just too many injuries to the rotation at this point to think they can just go out and buy a top end starter and a big late inning guy at the deadline and that will make this a contending roster. I can see an approach like last deadline trying to find some useable but not splashy trades to shore up the pitching and bench a bit. The injury bug along with the cold snap the offense went through likely derailed any plans to be big buyers at this point. The one thing is we have been pretty lucky not to have and injuries to key position guys so far (knock on wood.) We know what we have from that standpoint and there isn't a big splash to shore up the offense other than maybe if a power hitting corner outfielder is available which would move Shaw back to utility player and Suzuki full time DH which solves the bench depth too.

I really hope tomorrow is a bullpen not Wicks. Come Monday we'll have a five man rotation again. With the hope of Brown returning soon.

I haven’t heard an update on Miller in a while but if he truly is able to pitch in September him and Palencia at the end count make our bullpen close to serviceable. Ok that still might be a stretch.

One thing I do agree with you on is I don't want to see Wicks in Chicago again this season. Odds are he probably will be called up again at some point but I would rather trust some random waiver wire claim over him at this point.

What’s the timeline on Wiggins?

We should have Cabrera, Brown and your guy Jamo back after the break.

Wouldnt be so sure on Brown by that date. At least a month of no throwing. Then I'm guessing minimum of a couple weeks of ramping back up. Heard on Chicago radio them say there is some concern this could be like what he had in 2024 and think that pretty much ended his season. So going to be pretty cautious.

Watching the replay on TV now. My God, how bad must it feel to be as good as the Brewers have been and still the Cubs fans just own their stadium.

The Cubs playing home games in Milwaukee is one of my favorite things each year.

This thread has 2000+ posts and the Brewers 2026 season thread has…65. Are there any Brewers fans outside of Wisconsin?

I didn’t say directly after the break.

Apparently According to ESPN. They’re one of the seven teams that get blocked in central Iowa. I mean Cincinnati??? Seriously???
