Christian Wiggins out for the 2026-27 season with a torn achilles

There must be something different about modern athletes because Achilles injuries used to be rare and usually happened to older players.

They're almost as common as ACL injuries now. Wonder what has changed?
Agree. It's crazy how many achilles ruptures there have been lately. Top of my head, Jason Tatum/Cetics; Tyrese Haliiburton/Pacers (I'm sure there may have been others in the NBA recently); Aaron Rodgers; Salahadin Allah. Ryver Peppers & Braden Awls (all ISU! :()! Ahrg! Hers' a list of some more: https://www.bing.com/search?q=Wht+athletes+have+had+Achilles+ruptures+recently?&form=ANNTH1&refig=6a470bb8cfef4c529f3472e6cbcedb0f&pc=ASTS

It's crazy! Edit: Braden Awls out with ACL injury, not Achilles).

If it happens mid-season it's possible to miss like 1-1/2 seasons. Now he should be 100% by next summer.
It's an achilles rupture and repair. I would check-up on the 100% part. On the other hand they are apparently advancing on the repair technnique. Let's cross fingers and see. A lot more data is starting to pile up on the the recovery prognosis.

Really sucks for his development over this next year, but I doubt he was going to play meaningful minutes in conference play. The transfers we brought in guard wise plus Toure/Bateman are going to eat the minutes up(as long as they aren’t busts, crossing fingers lol)
