What are people's thoughts on Mike Trout. Washed up or is there something left in the tank?

Part of me would love to have Jed try to trade for Trout. Make a deadline splash. Big bat, decent fielder and Trout might be open to getting out of LA. But his salary is $37M through 2030! Maybe the Angels would pick up some salary. And based on Trout's recent injury history, wonder what it would take from a prospect standpoint to get him.

But with Suzuki & Happ's pending free agency and Cubs struggles in the middle of the lineup. He would create some 2nd half excitement.

We'd have to eat all the money and that would blow past the 2nd tier of the tax and probably still have to give up a meaningful prospect or two. That's before we get into whether he will even be playable in 3 years and his full no trade rights.

I think Cubs need to use all their assets and money to get arms and more arms. Sonny Gray or Joe Ryan would be top of my wishlist. In theory I don't disagree with anything you said but I know this front office is only going to do so much. I'd prefer that to be concentrating on the biggest needs.

Those are all reason's a Trout trade would scare the heck out of me. But the Angels would have to pay some solid coin. They are on hook for around $150M over remainder of his contract. So would they pay Cubs $50M to get him off their books?

I saw some online stuff the Phillies might make a run at him. But might be more wishful thinking as he is from southern Jersey.

The Angels have money. I don't think that's a concern for them and with every dime they send with him, the prospect cost gets higher.

I just don't think it's a match and I don't think he'd approve anywhere by the northeast anyway.

Curious why he wouldn't consider NE. Was listening to a Phillies, Nationals or Orioles game earlier in summer and announcers mentioned Trout just built a golf course in S. Jersey.

Just saw that Cubs open 2027 season (hopefully) against the Guardians at Wrigley. No date set for specific team start date, but MLB season opens on Wed, Mar 24. Brrrr

We all know we will focus on pitching at the deadline but if we did add a bat. The guy I’d want that I’ve heard could be available would be Arraez. Him hitting second behind PCA would be a 1-2 punch we haven’t seen since 84.

He’d DH 95% of the time but he’d be a great utility replacement if Ramirez was included in a deal.

Plus he’s on a one year deal.

Mike who? Oh yeah, that guy who plays for the Angels. Sounds expensive. How many playoff games has he played in?

Chances of this schedule happening?

I know someone who's son works in the Brewers organization. He was telling me that everyone is just assuming a lockout next year at this point. He's nervous for his son because he doesn't want him to lose his job.
