That's a man WAY IN over his ability to deliver Top 10 National results... at a place where they expect it ...on borrowed time. But he will retire more comfortable than 95% of US citizens.

Deep Hatred really started many years ago when my friend’s in-laws , who are the nicest people, got pelted by PSU students with balloons full of Piss.

Right around the time Jerry Sandusky was roaming the sidelines and other parts of the facilities.

For sure, and Joe Pa’s tenure was such a different era. He achieved such reverence that even in down years, it was total trust and belief that he’d right the ship and his guidance was unquestioned. Ferentz is somewhat similar, while he hasn’t won natty’s he’s brought prominence to a program that isn’t in a recruiting hotbed and doesn’t have blue blood resources. I’m guessing there’s a significant portion of the fanbase that feels ‘comfortable’ with him because they can come into town, ride the train to the stadium and attend games and Kinnick is a hostile environment and a lot of wins happen. I don’t think most Iowa fans expect to win the Big10 now with the new joiners and a natty is not on the table. Probably a playoff every 4-5 years would keep them happy. It would keep most programs happy.

I don’t think PSU fans are going to be so ‘comfortable’! They want league champions and playoffs almost every year. I think it’s a different fan base.

Joe Paterno had 5 Undefeated, Untied Bowl Teams: 1968 (Orange), 1969 (Orange), 1973 (Orange), 1986 (Fiesta) and 1994 (Rose)! The only other SCHOOL with more is Alabama with 10. Ironically, I was at the game (@ Northwestern in 2001) when Paterno tied Bryant with his 323rd all-time win.
