Crappy cell phone service

I know lots of geezers (in my age group) who seem to feel lost since they retired.

Also, lots of them seem to drop dead within a year. The rest of them seem to be volunteering for just about every organization that comes down the pipe. Either that, or they have expensive hobbies, like going to the doctor every other day.

I realize that not every job title conveys the same amount of human dignity, but I'm not sure we wouldn't all still be lazing in a hammock under a banana tree if humans did not feel that the responsibility that comes with work has its own kind of dignity.

This is extremely generational and a known boomer problem that is going to slowly fade away as new generations come into and closer to retirement years.

I wonder. In my opinion, you see it as generational since your generation is not already at retirement age. In fact, you may have it worse, depending on the economy a few years from now.

Think about when you were a little kid. I'll bet money you were wrong in at least a few ways about what it is to be an adult. Same will most likely be true for when you retire.

Everyone who works is selling their time and sometimes their talent.

The fundamental dignity of work is apparent when you realize that one of the first things we ask a person is "What do you do for a living?". Also, when people present themselves, it is often by their occupation. When they don't have one, they lose a portion of their self-concept.

I guess I don’t ask people what they do unless I’m out of things and I don’t talk about what I do unless I get asked questions. My kids are what I always talk about, weather, Iowa state and that type of stuff.

I don’t put my self worth in what I do. With the youngest graduating HS, we have talked about what we want to do with our time and none of it is more work. My favorite thing is helping my kids and seeing them enjoy things.

I was speaking with a classmate over the 4th weekend, I taught with his wife a couple of years, and he said they were paying $2200 a month for insurance for the two of them. That price tag is what is keeping people working and not retiring.

100% that’s why I said semi retired, 20ish years of insurance before Medicaid is just an extremely annoying amount of money to spend

We were with US Cellur since the days of bag phones, - likely over 30 yrs. We just transferred to PureTalk. No problems yet, I like saving money.

Last time I was in one. It was swamped and there was an elderly lady waiting and struggling to stand there. I stopped the store when I walked to the back of it and drug a bench up for her to sit on.

I have been with US Cellular for 25 years. When T Mobile took it over our phones got noticibly worse. My daughter is asking me to shop around and get something new. T Mobile just kind of sucks so far. I told her to be patient and see if it's just a new thing and they are trying to get their systems up and running and merged. Sometimes a merger takes a few bit. Not sure who has T Mobile but is it always not good? Just curious for anyone that has them

We have had T Mobile about 5 years here in Omaha. Best phone service we ever had. Wherever we travel to, still works great. Have to wonder if it's because of converting from US Cellular?
We switched from Verizon because T Mobile has a plan for folks over 55. We get two phone lines, unlimited data, unlimited text, and a subscription to Netflix, all for $70 a month, including all fees and taxes, and never a price increase.
