Welcome to another edition of On That Note. This is part 2 (of 3) for our annual albums-by-decade series.

Post from your favorite LPs released in 2006 and/or 2016. (Those years only, NOT the entire decade.)

Include up to 3 sound clips. In addition to the tracks, we encourage you to expound on why the album is meaningful, including personal history of your relationship with the record and its music.

Choices should focus on studio albums. Avoid greatest hits/live LPs/compilations. We allow it, but it should be a definitive element of an artist’s body of work that isn’t otherwise available from studio output.

If someone posts an album on your list before you get to it, you are free to reference it, but please use different song clips.

If you’re more singles-oriented, you may substitute favorite singles from either of those years.

I was sent to NYC by work for once instead of some remote Army Base for a specific training course. Was there on a Monday when they were shooting the Letterman Show for the coming Friday.

KT was the musical guest. Never heard of her but went across the street next day and bought this.

Never Hear the End of It — Sloan

I doubt I’ll convince many people to embrace Sloan, but I keep trying.

I hesitate to call this a masterpiece, but it probably qualifies in the context of Sloan’s discography.

The blend from one track to another is excellent, it can go from balladry to punky to poppy, you almost have to experience the album as a whole. Even in rare cases when it lags a little, some songs are so brief, you can overlook a little here & there.

As of this writing, it’s my second-favorite album of The Zeroes (behind Wilco’s “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”).

I’m cheating with # of samples, but it’s a 30-song LP (double-album vinyl version), so I can get away with it. Heh!

The farewell concert for Crowded House was 1996. At which time a VHS tape was released. It wasn't until 2006 that the CD version (and DVD) were released. So it fits, technically.
