Trade bait. Best way to advertise your trade bait is to get them to the bigs, not many eyes on Iowa. Alcantara isn't looking good in limited opportunities, or maybe it's Dean heading down. I forgot he was even on the team until he pinch-hit for PCA the other night!
Just looked at our 40 man, total of six players currently in the minors. Those eight spots are just the short term injuries. It’s truly amazing this team has managed to be as successful as they have been.
Eh, one year sample after being awful for a long time is nothing but noise in defensive metrics.
It was just a pipe dream of mine to add him so I’m sure it isn’t happening. But I find it pretty funny that posters will make **** up just to disagree with me.

Arraez probably wouldn't happen because he probably wants to play 2b vs mainly a DH/utility role with the Cubs.

- He doesn't walk enough. Dude also doesn't strike out!! He has 18 strike outs and 27 walks.
- He's hitting .320 with a .359 OBP. That would be on par with Suzuki and behind only PCA & Busch.
- We need a DH with slug. I could agree with that if the Cubs would add a 25HR guy at the deadline. But how likely is that? And it not like the Cubs lineup isn't already loaded with HR hitters. What the Cubs lack is someone who can consistently move PCA along.
- Fielding wise he OAA this year is excellent. BUT not every player needs to be gold glove level. He's very solid with 5 errors this season. Plus, he played 1B almost entirely with the Padres in 2025. The Cubs don't really have a backup for Busch. Kelly has been thrust into it.

I'd love Detmers - gives you a clear top of the rotation arm for cheap for the next 3 years. I'd be comfortable starting him in a playoff game.
Holmes has the exact makeup that Zombro loves and is a rental so I doubt he'd break the bank. Wouldn't mind getting him in and then seeing if he's a guy we re-sign in FA.

Detmers is a top of the rotation guy? Maybe given our current rotation injuries he would be but he's probably more like a 3 at best. I do like the multiple years of control aspect though. I'd rather have Soriano to be honest as we already have 2 LHP in the rotation with Shota and Boyd and technically a 3rd in Peterson right now too plus I think Soriano has a bit more upside. Soriano also throws a harder fastball which is something we could use to offset our softer tossing guys. Both have multiple years of control left which makes me thinks the Angels asking price is going to be quite a bit. Either would be a nice addition that also fills a rotation need for next season too.
I saw an article yesterday saying we have exactly what the Angels are coveting for their starting pitching ( Ayers ). If we can land Deters or even Soriano for him and get two more years of control that’s a no brainer.
