I love state wrestling. It is a week long holiday for me!

We have a couple of signed guys wrestling.

3A-145
Ben Monroe (36-2) place is unknown and scored 2.0 team points.

  • Champ. Round 1 - Ben Monroe (Ankeny Centennial) 36-2 won by decision over Logan Adamson (Bettendorf) 24-5 (Dec 6-5)

2A-220
Cody Fisher (49-0) place is unknown and scored 4.0 team points.

  • Champ. Round 1 - Cody Fisher (Woodward Granger) 49-0 won by fall over Jordan Mundy (Chariton) 27-10 (Fall 1:04)


Unsure of other guys we have interest in, but I believe the following have been on visits:

Gabriel Greenlee (38-1) place is unknown and scored 2.0 team points.

  • Champ. Round 1 - Gabriel Greenlee (Ames) 38-1 won in the ultimate tie breaker over Charlie Nank (Dowling Catholic - Wdm) 23-12 (UTB 4-3)
3A-120
Drake Ayala (42-0) place is unknown and scored 3.5 team points.

  • Champ. Round 1 - Drake Ayala (Fort Dodge) 42-0 won by tech fall over Donovan Card (Norwalk) 30-10 (TF-1.5 3:16 (20-5))
2A-195
Wyatt Voelker (35-1) place is unknown and scored 2.0 team points.

  • Champ. Round 1 - Wyatt Voelker (West Delaware) 35-1 won by decision over Sam Chapman (Creston) 44-10 (Dec 3-1)
Buf may be able to fill in a few more.




Headed down to the greatest show on earth tonight, pumped to see old friends from all over the state.

I can't think of any other Juniors and Seniors.

There are some sophomores, but it is early to really know level of interest on them

Wow. Greenlee got a scare!

Voelker had a tight one too but I know that was identified as a match to watch in the first round.

This seeding stuff is messed up. The ones in charge changed many of them. You really don’t know who should or shouldn’t win, at least by the quarters.

So if we don't land Voinovich we will have another pretty empty recruiting class in terms of top tend talent. That would be two in a row. This program is going to start drying up fast unless something changes. It shouldn't be this way at this point.

Yeah if we miss on Ayala and Voinovich, it would be a massive disappointment. Especially since we should be freeing up some money with Parker, Degen, Colbray, etc graduating.
