We both prefer driving. When we were taking my company truck everywhere, I was the only one that could drive. Now that it's gone and she has the van, she drives everywhere. I've had my car for like 4 years and I don't think our entire family has ever been inside it at the same time. My wife and I have been in it together maybe 5 times ever.

I recently picked up an older Ford F250 to **** around with and the kids like riding in it. It's a manual and my wife has no idea how to drive it so that defaults to me.

I prefer to drive. But she also prefers to drive.

But since I am a MUCH better passenger, when we are together in the car, she almost always drives.

She is a terrible passenger...

Drive.

Alone.

With my podcasts.

When I drive with husband in the passenger side, he falls asleep. I feel guilty about turning on the radio, then I get drowsy.

I can ride in the backseat, but it better be a full-sized sedan or bigger. My long legs can't take backseat riding for an extended amount of time.

I really don’t care. Mild preference for driving, but my wife gets crazy car sick if she’s a passenger on curvy roads, so I just let her drive so she isn’t puking and miserable.

Which is fine by me, because curvy roads usually mean scenic country and I love looking out the window.

If we’re trying to make good time, then I strongly prefer driving.

I always prefer to be driver if we're in the city. I am way calmer in the chaos when I'm in control.

On long road trips, I usually take the morning shift and she takes the night shifts. We take turns if it's driving during the day and usually read a book out loud to each other.

I get too sleepy after the sun goes down and she is a major night owl so that works out.

Driver, almost exclusively. Control issues lol. Works well as my wife doesn't like to drive. We're going out to Denver over Memorial Day and I will be driving the whole way.
If I let my wife drive, it’d be a dumb and dumber situation.

In almost all cases, I drive. Exception is, if we go to a gathering and I imbibe, she usually insists on driving home, even if it's only like 8 blocks away. Good idea for safety in a general sense, so I don't complain.

Any trip of significant distance, I do all the driving. Sometimes, it'd be nice to swap a little, but she isn't comfortable especially if there's no familiarity. I don't always like the unfamiliar, either.

Btw, love the thread title.

@Mr Janny and I have an appt over lunch today that requires my car, so we spent an exorbitant amount of time figuring out where and when we would meet so he could drive my car. Because he drives 99.99999% of the time and we both like it that way.

What is your preferred spot in a car? Driver, or shotgun? Or maybe middle-back? Do you have any special reasons - like, I hate riding long distances in the back because I get motion sickness.

Made me think, haven't had a co-pilot in a long time. I am not aways comfortable riding with just anyone. Last ex was a really good pilot and co-pilot. When she drove I liked to nap if on long drives and she wasn't the type that wanted/needed someone awake when she drove. I am not comfortable with some people I know driving but felt 100% safe with her behind the wheel.

I come from a family of ultra-marathon drivers. I drive unless I'm sick or dead tired. Even then I just can't sleep in a moving vehicle unless I can be completely flat.

I drove the whole way back from Binghamton NY last month. Left at 6 AM and got home at 9 PM. If I know I have to do it, then I just do it.

My wife tried to go from Rochester to Minneapolis using 52/63 South.

I do the driving unless I've had drinks and then she's driving and Im holding on for dear life. Blue Cruise is worth every single penny in her vehicle.

I’m typically the driver, I get too bored as a passenger. My wife prefers not to drive and is a great navigator so we make a good team.
