Predictable and boring doesn't necessarily mean it was the wrong call. MITB almost always works best on a heel because the act of cashing in itself is an opportunistic yet cowardly act - it's almost never a good look for a face. The heels in that match were Seth, Solo Sikoa, and El Grande Americano (Chad Gable). Americano was never going to win it; Sikoa has his own problems outside of the title picture, so of the heels in that match Seth was the logical choice. So whoever else it might have been would have had to have come outside of the match... and outside of Breakker I'm not sure who else that could or should have been.
