I could be. Maybe I'm remembering different. It was 25 plus years ago. Even then, if you would've seen me, "overweight" would not be something that came to mind. Now? Probably so. I'm probably technically obese at 238. lol....

Skinny Fat needs a slice in that pie chart.

BMI is a stupid measurement, I have lost 50 lbs since thanksgiving last year, and at my goal weight and I am still listed as overweight. 6 foot 190 being overweight is nuts. I would have to saw off a leg to be in the normal category.
Ha yeah I read somewhere 180 is my ideal weight at 6’1. Pretty sure I’d look like Jack Skellington at that point. It’s just not in my frame for that not to look weird.

Possibly but honestly most people have a very skewed idea of what they think things would look like due to most of the population being overweight/obese

I wasn't aware before that relatively sedentary Americans "expend about the same number of total calories most days" as those who are anything but, such as "hunter-gatherers, herders, subsistence farmers, foragers and anyone else living in less-industrialized nations."
That’s totally fair, the vast majority of your calorie expenditure each day is keeping your body in homeostasis. Also the human body is great at adapting. The more frequently you do an activity the more efficient your body usually becomes at that activity and you burn less kcals.

It’s one of the reasons just doing the same regular type of cardio or strength training is it out adjustment has diminishing returns

Im 6' and I was 145 my senior year. I did look like Jack Skellington. I weighed 180 not too long ago and I was normal looking. You would not look skinny at 180 at that height. Doesn't matter what your frame is.

In college I was a sliver under 6 foot and worked out hard. I went from a HS weight of 200 (climbed up to 210-215 in college) down to 176. I had people ask if I had anorexia since I wore my old clothes still. My suit was a 43 Canadian cut jacket with a 32 waist.

I routinely had people ask me if I had an eating disorder if they saw me in old clothes. You can look scrawny at 180.

If you were to get a DEXA scan, you could determine your % body fat and your lean mass (weight that doesn't include fat). If someone wanted to get lean (10-15% body fat), many will be shocked at how low their weight would need to be.

I'm 5'7" and my lean body mass was 127 pounds. I would have to get down to 144 pounds to get lean enough to see my abs (approx. 12% body fat).

I’m right there at 5’9”. I can’t imagine myself in the 140’s. It wouldn’t be possible to have any power or explosiveness. I could probably shop in the kids section for clothes though!

I just went through this. In January I thought I was around 20% at 220lbs because you could still kinda see abs. 200lbs was goal weight and I wasn't near as lean as expected. Currently 195 sitting around 12-15% if I had to guess. The knees feel way better but lifting numbers definitely came down.

At 6 feet tall when I was in the 140s my senior year in high school it was because I went through a really bad case of mono at the end of my junior year with health complications afterwards and lost a lot of muscle mass. I was not healthy and looked sickly.

6'1" and my current lean weight is ~162lbs. So12% body fat would be 181 lbs.

But I am at 210lbs overall. Since you can't lose 100% fat, my lean weight would go down too. So to get to 12%, I might have to get down to like 165lbs (depending on assumptions fat/lean loss ratio assumptions).

I'm just aiming for upper teens on body fat. I'm freaking 53, looking like Thor isn't really in the cards at this point. I mean, maybe Fat Thor from End Game...
