You sure about that? I was under the impression that the soon to be departing President was the main obstacle. I don't know if she may have a big money donor in her ear.

I am not against JTS beer sales as long they exclusively sell Ames Lager at a high price to make it worthwhile for West O as well and have 4 separate kiosks for it in each corner of the concourse.
I’m not 100% sure.

But it’s the only rational explanation.

Beer sales don’t generate a meaningful amount of revenue after expenses. If anyone thinks that’s what’s going to send us to prosperity they are sadly mistaken. I personally would like to see Iowa State sell beer during games and eliminate fans leaving at halftime. Not because of revenue but to improve fan experience

I think people realize it's not going to be some massive cash cow, but in this era of player payments and the deficit we're facing, I don't know why we'd turn down any source of revenue.

I suspect some older seasoned donors don't want to get rid of the re-entry policy.

It has become mind numbingly obvious what’s going on:

There is a very large donor who has told Jamie they will pull their support if he allows stadium wide alcohol sales. Said person donates more than the projected booze sales. Simple math. Jamie is a company man who has to sell a message that it’s about morality, while simultaneously profiting off our fanbase’s notorious love of partying
I wish he would just say that. Doesn't need to give names.

I agree with Jamie ... If you can't go without alcohol for three and a half hours, don't go to the game.
Wow, you take away people's beer and they think you're dumb. So I guess you think Pollard is dumb too, because I only repeated what he said. I've gotten more reactions out of this post than I have on any collection of posts for a couple of months. The reaction to this post makes me even more positive that Pollard is right.

In an era where the athletic department doesn't turn down any dollar no matter how negatively it affects the fan experience, and in an era where the department is heading up fans left and right for money again and again, to turn down any potential revenue source, even if it is just a few hundred thousand, sends quite the message to those same fans.

There is no reason to eliminate the re-entry policy. It has zero connection to alcohol sales. All that will do is annoy many of the higher level donors who park close enough to see it as an amenity, and further burden the concessions and restrooms facilities that ISU already is lacking in.

Because it is idiotic. Framing it as "can't go without" is some puritanical nonsense. A lot of people clearly like to enjoy a beverage or two while watching a game. If they didn't it wouldn't be sold at nearly every p5 stadium at this point.

Why would someone sitting in a suite care if they sell beer to the slobs?

To me, I really don’t care if they sell beer or not personally- we all know they would charge $30 for a tall boy of Ames Lager or Busch Light. I do think that while it will generate little revenue, it is at least something to show the average fan that you are changing to adapt to a new era while improving the fan experience for those that want to spend $30 for a beer.

In a time where fans are being asked to give more and more, the AD needs to do more to reach the average fan- even if that means giving up their position on this. You can’t keep asking people to give more and more with nothing in return.

I understand your point but saying nothing in return when we are living in the golden era of Iowa State football is a bit of a misleading statement. Our fans are also absurdly cheap compared to most of our peers when it comes to complaining about season ticket prices.

1 is making money and the other is not.
Didn’t say anything about making money. Just that people will complain no matter what he does.

I personally think it’s a super easy decision to appease a majority of your fan base, while adding a small revenue source, and you stop people from going out at halftime.

Fair point- and I’ve seen enough crappy teams to appreciate what we have. My frustration is more, as I’ve said in other threads is that the AD seems to spend all of its time trying to cater to the Sukups of the world and doesn’t seem to care about the middle tier donors.
