I could honestly care less at this point if they sell beer or not because it's going to be over-priced and long lines just like it is for our current concessions. I still wonder if the big reason behind it is you no longer have exclusive sales for places like the Sukup endzone, suites and for BB Johnny's so does that ultimately devalue the perks you get for what those people pay to get into those places? The views from the endzone are not great IMO so if you can get a beer anywhere in the stadium why would you want to pay more for that section when you can get a better view elsewhere? Only perk I guess is you have the indoor options for weather.

Because it is idiotic. Framing it as "can't go without" is some puritanical nonsense. A lot of people clearly like to enjoy a beverage or two while watching a game. If they didn't it wouldn't be sold at nearly every p5 stadium at this point.

I mean, if the best argument is “people can’t put down their beer” we might as well just ban tailgating too.

And I still say if you can't go 3 1/2 hours without "enjoying" a beverage, maybe you need to check into a clinic somewhere.

Them not selling beer in the stadium isnt stopping anyone.

It is like Im at a high school game just that it costs a lot more.
And the stadium doesn't need to add to the problem. Alcohol and its abuse is one of biggest social problems this country has. I don't think my university should contribute to it any more than it's already done.

So IMHO they should open up a Busch Light sponsored pop up"Biergarten" just outside the stadium, at half time. Elitest get to enjoy their endzone exclusivity, while the masses exit the stadium and grab a quick drink and reenter and not taverse back to their tailgate. Taking the moral high ground in this day and age about the subject is obtuse.

Wow, you take away people's beer and they think you're dumb. So I guess you think Pollard is dumb too, because I only repeated what he said. I've gotten more reactions out of this post than I have on any collection of posts for a couple of months. The reaction to this post makes me even more positive that Pollard is right.
The people that want to get sloppy drunk and act like f'ing idiots are already doing that... and will continue to do that. It's not like ANYONE is going to say... "they are selling $12 beers in the stadium... now I'm going to get wasted, but I wasn't before."

And I judge by your reaction that the "check into a clinic" comment must have found it's mark.

You'd be wrong. I actually don't even drink all that often these days. Have been fortunate enough to sit in a section that sold beer and I'm not actually sure I even bought one last season. But I think someone who thinks the AD shouldn't be taking every avenue it can to get revenue out of some misguided need to control others' choices to drink is absolutely idiotic.

Its even more dumb when we've seen evidence at schools that added alcohol sales that selling it actually reduces negative behavior due to the reduction in the 'load-up' effect.

Not sure I’ve seen a spin zone this good in awhile.

“People think my post is dumb but I only repeated what JP said which everyone also thinks is dumb so that makes JP and I right.”

Seriously clutch your pearls even harder. Telling someone to check into a clinic because they simply “want the option” to purchase a beer is lunatic behavior.

This could be incredibly profitable for some entity, if given the green light.

Who said they can’t go without for 3 1/2 hours?

But what if they want to enjoy a drink or two?

Treat adults like adults. This ‘holier than thou’ attitude about people who would enjoy a drink during a game is laughably stupid.

I do wonder if part of the problem is they can’t figure out the concession lines.

There will likely be one set up in conjunction with the new CyTown restaurant tenant across the street from JTS. The beer sold should solely be Ames Lager IMO both inside and outside JTS.
