Why do people want ISU Baseball back so much?

With the robust minor league "farm" system the already exists, I see little need for college baseball at ISU. We have no history of success, or attendance, or anything really.

College Professors - Dumb & Dumber

Bruce Harreld, University of Iowa's just retired president. It happens when politics weigh too heavily in decision making. Given where the state of Iowa is culturally right now, I'm surprised the new UI president actually is an academic.

    Transfer Portal in wrestling

So basically we've struck out on the transfer market?

    Wrestling Town Hall

My take is that Gomez has limited time to achieve whatever he can in wrestling. With both Ian and the ISU-specific concussion history to overcome, that's not likely to happen in our program. He's a kid who wants to wrestle. I just hope he places his long term health first, no matter what.

    Transfer Portal in wrestling

For Griffith, it may matter that MI is a top ranked, elite academic institution. Same for North Carolina to a somewhat lesser degree. In the bigger picture, ISU (and for that matter IA) are backwaters.

    J'Den Cox

Seriously, how the heck would you know that? Well, I wish I could win the things he has won by "not being one of those guys."

    J'Den Cox

If things worked out as SJC wrote, there should have been an exception made on the spot. This is P4P best wrestler the US has, and he was given bad information by a USA wrestling employee (which I think KJ is). On the other side, if true this is a terrible look for KJ.

    ISU Rowing Team Drowning

I think this is the best response. Club sports are run by the students; they lack resources and often times expertise. How many experienced rowers even live in Ames? Of them, how many will volunteer to coach -- especially if practices are usually early morning when waters are calmest? Yet these...

    Rogan interviewed Gable

I define what you describe as achievement, not heroism. Gable certainly has accomplished much in the sport of wrestling.

    Beard to Texas

It seems to me that Texas grinds up coaches. If I were Beard I'd be excited but worried -- perhaps a few restless nights on my bed of money.

    Next season

I generally agree with you, but you just cannot help but salt the earth ... every single time. C'est la vie.

    ***NCAA Championships (March 18-20)***

Well, I am tuning in after a long hard work day. Given our dismal performance, it's back to work I go!

Maybe someone needs to chew Dresser's ass.

Report: T.J. Otzelberger headed for Iowa State

I don't know much about the basketball. But its hard to envision that hiring a guy you passed over before, and who has had middling results since then, is a "slam dunk." Its also hard for a casual fan to get very excited about this.

    Big 12 Championship (March 6-7)

Not much to crow about this year. Shows the double edged sword that hype can be. Feel like I was led by Dresser to expect better.

    Big 12 Championship (March 6-7)

Feels like a long time since we've shown up in a first round. Is the interior of the team bus painted pink?

Could Our Football Team Perform Better than Our Basketball Team In Its Current State?

This is stupid and mean spirited toward the players. I suggest deleting this thread.

Does Anyone Else Just Not Really Watch the Games Anymore?

Not only do I not watch the games, I don’t read the stories On this site or in the paper. ISU basketball doesn’t exist.

    SDSU/NDSU Triangular (Feb. 7)

In a short season like this, when duals mean even less than usual, I think you MUST wrestle guys at their tourney weight. For preparation, to prevent injury, to create routine, to build up records, etc etc.

Williams & Blum Pod: Super Bowl, a heart-to-heart with Cyclone fans and more

Coaching is a public facing, high scrutiny job. At the top levels they are very well compensated for it. I don't condone jackass fans (though we've all been one at one point or another). That said, any coach that does not have an interior mechanism/mentality in place for walling out the...
