**Wyoming Dual in Hilton on Saturday @7:00PM

Good conversation, thanks. The program was in tougher shape than I understood. What I am most surprised by is the mental weakness. That Dresser talks about it almost constantly tells me it is worse than he expected. We may see some guys moving on after this long break (which Dresser is seems to...

***Rider Dual in Stephens 2:00PM on Sunday***

Somewhat agree. It might have ended in a meltdown, but that meltdown came at the end of a long, slow burn. Its not only that weights were mismanaged or that training may have been uneven/subpar (those things are perhaps more direct fixes). Rather, there seemed to be a poisoned psychology in the...

Portillo brothers transferring from south Dakota st.

This my fear. Open migration of top athletes could increase the disparity between D1 wrestling programs—to the detriment of the sport. That said, Simpsonclone convinced me that the burden of managing this should not fall wholly on the athlete.

Portillo brothers transferring from south Dakota st.

You have convinced me (I am quite serious). Coaches have the freedom to be little more than mercenaries at worst, and even the best intentioned of them can leave without penalty. Student athletes should not be treated differently. I have an outmoded sense (probably a fans' sense) of loyalty to...

Portillo brothers transferring from south Dakota st.

Again, sure. But not all such scenarios involve coaching changes. Is Bono leaving, for example? Is your position that any athlete should be able to transfer at any time, in any scenario, without penalty or limitation?

Portillo brothers transferring from south Dakota st.

Sure. I know nothing of the specifics in this instance. Just saying that, in some circumstances, there are legitimate arguments for limiting releases. And if we're imagining scenarios: in a world without transfer penalties, what's to keep big dog programs from poaching small school stars via...

Portillo brothers transferring from south Dakota st.

I agree with giving no strings releases, generally. But what if they are getting a lot of money at SDSU? For me, that changes things a bit. Such a commitment from the school deserves a similar consideration from the wrestler. Lost scholarship funds can hurt a program pretty badly.

    Hunter Dejong

I'm impressed with the type of wrestlers that are coming on board. Bright future in Ames.

A great addition to the team. Congrats to Tyler and the staff.

A very good day for ISU wrestling ... congrats to all!

    Another Commitment

This is a superb pick up. I'm excited to see him in cardinal and gold. I can also respect his dad's decision to limit social media. I imagine the amount of unsolicited recruiting contacts that these top athletes get is ridiculous. It shows maturity (and commitment to ISU, mind you) to turn it...

David Carr ..... Has Chosen ISU!

This is huge news! Congrats to the team and the Carr family. Here's to the renewed prominence of ISU wrestling. Also, this deserves to be front page news on this site! Please make it so.

    Trent joins Travis in Virginia

Actually, one must assume that the Paulsons were two of the "elements" in question. As coaches, weren't they also responsible for ISU's wrestling culture? That Trent would provide such quote confirms the wisdom of not retaining him/them.

    Kyven wins Challenge tourney

IMO, prioritize Dom and Kevin. The staff is heavy on light and mid weights. Plus, look at what those two just accomplished. We need top contenders training here. Otherwise the RTC looks more like an excuse to give the coach's brother a job.

Another Social, this one in Humboldt (Dresser's hometown)

I hate to say it but the CRTC website is pure amateur hour, as is the logo. You not going to wow today's design savvy youth with that.

Wyatt Rhoads track and field article

Were he and his brother on football scholarships during their time with the team? I cannot remember.

    US Open

Excellent result for Kevin and a generally strong showing by ISU's younger talent. This just might warrant an article by CF! It is absolutely important the we keep guys like Gadsen and Bradley in Ames. The bring legitimacy to the RTC enterprise and our ability to train the upper weights.

WRESTLING: Dresser on 2017-18 schedule, date in CY-Stephens

All of this window dressing is fine ... sure why not wrestle in Cy Stephens? Yet what concerns meis that in spite of all the excitement, this recruiting class is not great. We kept some heavy hitters, but lost others. Dresser (surprisingly) didn't bring anyone along with him from Tech, nor did...
