    Recruiting ISU Football

    ISU did not "give" that game to Toledo. We did not have better coaching than them, nor did we have better talent. Now we have a new coach and hopefully both will change.

    Yes ... Iowa has maintained a much stronger overall commitment to wrestling than ISU. It involves coaching to be sure (and Iowa essentially has TWO top head coaches in the Brands), but equally so an overall allegiance to the sport by the AD.

    This is probably right, but also a disturbing miscalculation on KJ's part. He may be remembering the tight duals of his own college days (which is also not good, as it seems Alger/Gable got inside his head then, too).

    Sure ... so what's your point? I'm sorry your friend PR got canned, but he was what his record says he was. I think the same about KJ and would not mind seeing him replaced if this year turns out like last. The difference is whether or not the AD cares about this sport.

    In the end, PR does not win games. His best coaching is low average, his worst coaching is abysmal. We've been sold the "hometown boy" schtick and promises about "next year" for season after season. So many of us are grasping at straws to justify keeping him. I'm no longer buying.

    The thing about a dumpster fire is that it doesn't matter who put a flame to the garbage. All you can do is watch it burn. If smart, you'll throw it all out and start from scratch once the flames have died out.

    We can these conversations about which players are failing most ad nauseum. We can have them within a given year, or comparing the performance of position across years. The common denominator in all this is the head coach. Voila.
