Maybe instead of complaining about bad field conditions, we actually fill the stadium. Yesterday was pretty embarrassing and don’t talk about weather. It was just fine a half hour before kickoff, tailgate at a restaurant/bar before the game.
We just discussed this, Campbell can’t coach “success”. He has all the cards in his hands and folds. He is our forever Ferentz coach. Always close to the fridge, but never able to close it.
That’s fine, this isn’t the NFL. College football is a regional sport. You follow players and coaches because they are from your neighborhood. I have spoken to several fans of ISU football, none of them have watched a minute of football outside the Big 12 footprint.
I attended my first Iowa/ISU game in Iowa City in 1998. I will never forget that day. My uncle took me and my cousins and I was the only Cyclone fan in the group and basically in our section. It was a day to remember. I was also there the year Seneca Wallace beat them and Brad Banks fumbled...
Im just saying are we not in a position as a program to not have a potential first team all Big 12 player playing punt coverage? That should be handled by freshman and sophomore’s looking for playing time.
The one thing about building a program like Matt has done is your freshman and sophomore’s that are coming up in the program can play special teams not your potential first team all Big 12 linebacker.
So there isn’t one guy that can’t cover punts in his place with one of the best punters in the Big 12? It’s also got to be situational in my opinion, that punt was around the 40 if I remember correctly and was more likely than not going to be fair caught.
