    Plumbing question

We have an upstairs shower/bathtub combo that seems to have quickly lost about 50% of its pressure. It's the only plumbing fixture in the house that seems to be affected, including the other shower, sinks, toilets that are upstairs. And as far as I can tell, it wasn't a gradual decrease. It's...

    Cost of Attendance changes

Didn't see this posted anywhere. I had a feeling this was going to be a bad thing for Iowa State, and these early numbers don't give me warm-fuzzies. Shows the expected disparity between schools like Iowa State and Texas, and even Iowa. Texas will be providing almost twice as much, and Iowa...

More talent, and a chip on their shoulder

I think that's what will define the '15-16 Cyclones. As for this year's squad, they got what they had coming given their inconsistency. Unfortunately, it reared its ugly head at the worst time. I wish this team would have played with a chip on its shoulder, but that motivation was apparently...

A conference title would have been sweet, but...

We improved on our league record and conference tourney seed in a season where the Big 12 was as tough as ever. That is a tremendous accomplishment. Still trending in the right direction, both in performance and talent. Great regular season... Now the fun begins.

    Texas Tech look-alike thread

I'll start. looks like... Some will get it. Most will not. I'm okay with that.

Bad day for the Big 10

I assume OSU, Mich, MSU, and Iowa were all favorites, or tossups (OSU and Mich were probably close). All lost to traditional underdogs, with the exception of NC, of course.

    Arizona-UTEP

Tim Floyd's Miners down just 3 at half against #3 AZ, 28-25. Ugly but fun game. On FS1.

Can't wait for Saturday... through April.

From the Daily: "Dustin played a huge role in my choice," McKay said. "Me and Dustin are really close. He is like my brother. We have seen each other grow and we click instantly when we get on the court. I could not pass up another chance to play with him." The two tore up the NJCAA together...

    Colorado sucks too

After today's debacle, I'm finding small bits of joy in other's misery. The CU football team is winless in conference as well, and their bball team just lost by 23 to Wyoming. Maybe Wyoming is good-ish at 3-0, but CU only scored 33. I had to double check the box score to make sure it wasn't a...

    Speaking of firing coaches...

Mark Trestman can take this steaming pile of horse crap wearing Chicago Bears jerseys and shove it. No excuse for being this bad on either side of the ball. Normally I would never be this hard on a second year coach, but I've seen enough. I'd be okay with a mid season firing as he and his...

    "Condition" of grass for Saturday?

Anyone have any insight into whether or not our groundskeeping practices have been modified leading up to Saturday's game? I've heard various media personalities joke about it, but I hope we honestly take advantage of the home field advantage, and I personally consider such practices fair play...

Any Nissan Altima owners out there?

My first five vehicles were all Fords or Volvos. I've had good fortune with them all, and my '01 Ford Escape is about to turn over 200K and I have yet to have a problem with it. A few years ago I bought my first Nissan- a 2006 Altima SE. I've had great luck with it, overall- no repairs. With...

When did you fall in love with music?

I'm guessing there are others whose first exposure to music was their parents' old albums. I still have my dad's old vinyl collection, which I've added to over the years with finds at garage sales and second-hand stores. I routinely cycle through the three Bs that initially hooked me: Buddy...

Clear blobs of gelatinous goo... from the sky?

Several days ago when we had that round of storms, I came home an noticed what I assumed were surprisingly clear hail stones in my yard. I didn't think much of it as there had been hail in the area. Well, I was out mowing my lawn today and noticed remnants of these same objects in my front...

    Fennelly's Floor?

Earlier today, Chris posted a blog of mine on the front page, and I was somewhat surprised by a couple of comments suggesting that Fennelly would be more deserving than Fred of having the Hilton floor named after him. No doubt BF is a tremendous Cyclone and an amazing basketball coach. There's...

    Bulk mulch delivery, Ankeny

Anyone have recommendations for bulk mulch delivery in the Ankeny area? I usually buy 30-35 bags each spring, but I'd rather have a pile dumped in my driveway, depending on cost. Plus, we're putting in some new landscaping this spring, so I'll probably need a bit more. Thanks.

    Car bodywork question

Due to a somewhat annoying design flaw on my Nissan Altima, the rear quarter panels flare out enough in front of the rear wheels that the edges catch rocks/debris flung up by the front tires. This leads to annoying amount of rock chipping that you can't keep up with using touch-up. I haven't...

Horny's Suns on ESPN now, 3Q

Haven't had many opportunities to watch Hornacek's team this year, although I rarely go out of my way to watch NBA.
