So I'm thinking about buying a new truck this weekend. But I'm unsure how this will affect the environment and I'm concerned about his new smoking ban... blah,blah,blah,... random... :chatterbox:

Is there another kind? I thought ACC wrote 2001 with Kubrick for the screen and that it's based upon an earlier ACC story called "The Sentinel". If I'm wrong please fill me in because I'm a big fan too.

Not sure what you mean by "another kind?"? Another work of art named 2001. . . ? Sorry, not sure I follow (I can be dense ;-)

I'm aware of "The Sentinel," a short story, iirc, from 1956-ish? I identified 2001: A Space Odyssey as "Kubrick's" because I understand that a director takes full possession of a story and crafts it anew (particularly a director of Kubrick's stature). Screenwriters often don't get the credit deserved (just from stuff I've read, otherwise I have no idea).

Am I tracking you, or have I missed the mark?

Yeah, well, what I mean is "Kubrick's 2001" as in "Kubrick's The Shining". Kubrick's version of The Shining is quite different from Stephen King's book. If Kubrick and Clarke colaborated on 2001 as I understood that they had then there is no "Clarke's 2001" in the way that there is a "Stephen King's The Shining". The "other kind" being "Clarke's 2001".

BTW, Kubrick did a great job with The Shining IMO as he also did with The Short Timers. Like I said, I'm a big fan too.
